You dont need to entertain her, just include him/her in whatever you are doing. Let him get the mail out of the mail box, take the stairs, let him stir something, give him a wet rag and have him wipe something. They dont need to be entertained, they just like to be involved [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] My husband expects unequivocal support for all his endeavors no matter how nonsensical they and I have had enough of his selfishness. He holds an mba, and chooses to stay at a dead end position. Every year he comes up with something else is going to do to earn more money except for attempting advance his career. Early in our marriage I would voice my opinions about his choices but after his defensive responses, I stopped and concentrated on my career, earned pay raises and tried to limit my resentment of him. He has now signed up to work for LYFT in addition to his full-time job. There is an upfront monthly cost of $1,200 - $1,500 (ins, gas) in addition to the investment of time needed to simply break even. It is quite disappointing to see someone who could do so much better not do so. 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] I'm torn. The boy that my DS (6th gr) considers his closest friend, is also slightly manipulative and contributes to my son's distress. There is a pack of 4 to 5 boys, who are the sporty boys at my DS's school. He plays with these boys mostly, and aspires to being part of their group. They are always playing football or basketball at breaks. There are other groups of boys, who will also run around, but mostly play tag. My DS considers these boys not friend material, but to me, many of them are nice, good boys. Anyway, back to the best friend. This boy likes to play another friend against my son. I noticed that he tends to prefer the other friend, but includes my son. He will say let's vote on making someone leave the group. I so want my son to spread his wings, and move away from these troublesome, mean boys, but my son is drawn to them. I guess we could call them "mean boys". My worry is that my son doesn't have the confidence to not want to be treated this way. I'm just stressed about this, and don't know how to bolster his confidence. He comes off as very well mannered, nice, and confident. But, in reality, if he were confident, he would not want to be treated this way. I tell him that if he acted like he didn't need these boys for a few days to a week, they would be missing him tremendously. He is not willing to try this experiment. I feel like I have a DD!! 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Op this was my DS. I get it. When he was in 7th grade the popular boys would play "If you had to kill someone for a million dollars who would it be?" My son was often it. Like yours, he was in the group but easily manipulated, low in the pecking order. Luckily my son realized that this isn't how friends speak. MS is the worst socially. I also think boys say insensitive and sometimes stupid things. He will find his way. [ Reply | More ]

I've always said boys can be just as mean as girls. I would ask your ds if he enjoys being with these kids -- does he feel happy when he's around them? explain that friends make you feel good. Encourage him to explore other friends. And you're right about the friends reactions if he were to make new friends. same thing happened to my ds (not as harsh) and as soon as he made some new friends his old friends were nicer. Either bc of him seeming more confident (which he became by making new friends as opposed to being treated like crap) or bc they didnt want to feel left out [ Reply | More ]

They'll sell you fillets that are pre-cleaned. Whole Foods or your local seafood place (if you're in NYC, I'd recommend Seabreeze). It all depends on how big her class/school is and whether you are still in touch with preschool families. At this age, most parties are for the whole class plus a few additional friends [ Reply | More ]

Probably 1-2. At our school by that age people move toward only inviting good friends - or all the girls/boys - not the whole class. [ Reply | More ]

Most kids go to parties outside of class parties...by 7 your kid knows kids from more than one school. What is the point of asking this? If this is too many events to deal with then don't say yes to everything! [ Reply | More ]

My 7 year old son used to get invited to a lot but he is sporty so he had school friends and kids from other classes that are on the different teams he is on. He always had a ton of friends but he was not extremely close to any of them. My dd was very different. She had 3 good friends from K-4 and that is it. She went to less parties. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, but it doesn't seem to work. I put her in a different camp than her friends to help. She is friendly to everyone but she seems to always come back to these three girls. [ Reply | More ]
