[ - ] I have 2 DDs, and I realized that, as much as I would have wanted a boy, I'm glad I'll have sons-in-law and not DILs (most probably, not that there's anything wrong about that, yadda yadda yadda...). And I have quite a good relationship with my MIL. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I have 2 DDs as well. I'm not thinking that far ahead, but I love having daughters. [ Reply | More ]

I'm going to enjoy both! I won't be an idiot who treats my DIL like a daughter. I'll have my daughters AND I'll develop a respectful friendship with my DIL if she wants one. [ Reply | More ]

NP: What is the issue with treating your DIL like a daughter? Genuinely asking, not trying to be snarky. [ Reply | More ]

It's presumptuous and most women don't want another mother. They already have one. Some in-laws just jump right in, want DIL to call them mom and dad, expect to waltz right into the house without knocking, expect to give DIL advice, etc. My in-laws were just like any other acquaintances when we met. Over 15 years, I now love them, but it took that time. Sorry, you're not eating off my plate when I barely know you. [ Reply | More ]
