I am not religious but I come from a country that basically banned religion. Today's liberals remind me of my childhood where you couldn't say what you wanted as you would be subjected to social shaming and religion is ridiculed. I see today's liberals as opposite of liberal. I'm the mom with the 80s IQ child. It was disappointing but helpful to find this out. For one, it helps us understand her limits, which are very real. If your child has a normal IQ and is performing well in school, all well and good. Don't get an IQ test. We didn't get them for our other children. But testing with our daughter helps identify her particular sources of weakness so that we can work towards maximizing her personal potential. Will she be a veterinarian or a doctor? No. Can she help take care of animals and people in another way? Yes. We need to have a realistic picture of what she is in order to be parents and help her plan her future. [ Reply | More ]

I agree. IQ isn't a life sentence but it does affect what one can do. A person with an IQ of 85 can't be a vet or a doctor - but as you said she can find other ways to help. A person with an IQ of 100-105 who is very hard working can probably become a healthcare professional of some sort but unlikely to become a doctor. A person with an IQ of 115 who is hard working and had good interpersonal skills can probably do almost anything. [ Reply | More ]

I've always found that these kinds of meal plans make money by limiting your choices and forcing you to eat more than you would normally to make it worthwhile, as opposed to just paying for one meal at regular price and filling in the gaps where you prefer. [ Reply | More ]

NP: But sounds like the Atlantis plan is offered at a discount, whereas Disney plan is full price (i.e. if you break out the average cost of a day's worth of meals - including dessert at lunch in addition to snacks - that's what Disney is actually charging you) [ Reply | More ]

Are there menus you can look at in advance and do some quick calculations, assuming you order certain things? If so, do a side by side to see. Never done Atlantis, but we've done the dining plan at Disney and we either break even, lose money or eat way too much (like if you decide you just want an appetizer or small salad or something for dinner one night, you're "losing" money). When we went 10 yrs ago meals were ridiculously priced. Like $50 for breakfast buffet. Be sure to check prices before you commit to a la carte. We went offsite one night to very fancy restaurant food not that great. [ Reply | More ]

I've been twice in the past two years. I never saw how the meal plan was worth it, but we aren't big eaters. We didn't do the breakfast buffet. There is a starbucks, so we'd grab stuff there for everyone and it wasn't expensive at all. Lunch would be a sandwich or something at the pool side cafe, and dinner would be a little more pricey but not as expensive as the meal plan. [ Reply | More ]

I think the words "I will be there. Just tell me when/where. I's sorry, Dad." show kindness and sympathy. "At the welcoming picnic, Karen and I surveyed the incoming freshmen for potential drug dealers.
