[ - ] my DH did the women's march on saturday. he's a misogynist pig who thinks he is liberal. he also voted for reagan - dirty little secret. this is a public service warning to any of you who think the man you're dating is kind and thoughtful because he did the march. I've been married to this man for 10 years and I'm only now realizing he is a fraud and not the progressive person he portrays himself to be. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Not surprised. All of these people with big mouths carrying on about stuff are generally hypocrites. And, unfortunately, people like your DH use political activities like the women's march to meet women. Like boy-scout leaders using the scouts as an opportunity to meet little boys. [ Reply | More ]

Barbara Ehrenreich wrote a fascinating book about how the women's movement did more to liberate men than women. It made me very suspicious of men who are prochoice and call themselves feminists -- like they are just glad not to have to take responsibility for a woman, because can't she support herself, or children, because if she didn't want one she should have aborted. [ - ] Plan to move to NYC, and apply private school for my 4yr DD (Nov birthday) next year. She is in a unconnected preschool in NJ now. there are few options: 1) stay in current preschool, 2) apply for a connected preschool in NYC now, and 3) start public K in NYC (or suburbs) next year before private K application. which option is better for the application. Any suggestions on what we should do to improve our chances? 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I recently got a connected string of four in a mailer -- one each for bbb and its three sister stores, but they all work at all four. Maybe when you get to the store someone with the same mailer will give or sell you one of the three she doesn't need. They were for 20% off your entire purchase, so nobody would need more than one. I am from Tennessee. My neighbor had a five toed black cat named JD. We call that kind of cat "a river cat" where I'm from. Anyway, one day my neighbor set to wash some dishes in the sink when all of a sudden, a huge snake poked its head up from the drain! They figured old JD brought that snake in, then he got away and hid in the sink. It was a terrifying sight and several men came over to deal with that snake. Hope you enjoyed my cat story. I had a sweet cat (RIP) who used to love to spoon with me. I'd lie down on the couch and she'd jump up and get in the perfect little spoon position and put her head on the pillow right next to mine. One time DH (then boyfriend) spent the night over my place. Unbeknownst to us, my cat had got into my room during the night and jumped into the bed with us. In the morning, we wake up facing each other and we're chatting etc. Out of nowhere, my cat pokes her head up. She had been snuggled up behind DH the entire time. [ Reply | More ]

My cat passed away a couple of years ago, but let me tell you about my dog. She is mostly deaf and can't see so well, either. She won't run away but she can't hear us calling her. If we want her to come to us, we have to put a hand on her back to get her attention. Sometimes this surprises her and she jumps about a foot in the air. I feel bad when that happens because she has arthritis and I'm sure it doesn't feel good to jump like that. [ Reply | More ]

The good thing about her being mostly deaf is that when we are walking and other dogs are aggressive and barking their heads off and growling, she can't see or hear them. So she just walks on by, like a super well behaved dog who has no interest in badly behaved dogs. But really she has no idea they are even there! [ Reply | More ]

After DD was born, our cat learned that if she woke the baby, we would get out of bed, which would get her (the cat) fed. I loved that cat but man, I would be so pissed at 5 am when she would stalk into the baby's room and start meowing! It's hard to squirt a cat and swear without waking the baby up, so basically, she had us by the balls. [ Reply | More ]
