Tots and Totes

You're a mom with a tot, so automatically that means you have lots of stuff to haul around. You need a roomy, practical bag, but do you have to choose between cute and cool? You want something fun, not too serious, something that doesn't scream diaper bag.

Kissycake features adorable silk-screened animals on soft fabric bags. The bright, colorful designs include puppy, bunny, poodle, mouse, bird, octopus, giraffe, and alien-monkey. All come with contrast gingham linings for even more appeal. They're perfectly sized for a variety of non-diaper uses, too – a trip to the beach, the park, school, even work if you're feeling whimsical.

Best of all the bags really fit, whatever your size. After choosing your strap style (over the shoulder or across the body, messenger-style), you select your height in feet and inches. Straps are then custom-made and double-stitched on, so the bags fit without banging against your knees (or that little person next to you).

Made in Portland by designer Kim Baxter, who started out sewing the bags by hand on her trusty Singer before the business took off. When she's not designing, she plays music with the All Girl Summer Fun Band.

Just be careful, if your tot happens to be a four-year-old girl, she may fall for your Kissycake baby blue octopus bag and want to borrow it. (But, you should probably get used to that.)
