Night Reading
You wouldn't dream of heading off for summer vacation without maps and your trusty Fodor's. You can never have too much information, especially when little traveling companions need a bathroom or an ice cream– now!
Shouldn't kids be familiar with your destination too? This summer, prep your little ones for family travel with the "Good Night Our World" series of board books. Each title in this charming collection takes a small child through the day in a different destination (San Francisco, Nantucket, Hawaii, NYC), saying good morning, good afternoon and good night along the way.
The books (23 so far) were created by Adam Gamble, a publisher whose best-selling "Good Night Cape Cod" started it all. Pack one in a carryon and you'll have a "to see" list that doubles as bedtime reading – perfect for a visit to grandma in Atlanta or cousins in Seattle. And when you get back, you'll have an illustrated memory book to put on the shelf.
Staying local this summer? Try approaching your own town as a visitor, or bid goodnight to the beach or the zoo. Or simply, "Good Night America."
