Grand Theft
Too often kids' tees are prisoner to little characters and silly sayings. It was only a matter of time before someone hijacked cutesy and turned it into cool.
For a hip take on the classic, try Little Thieves on for size. Unlike other offerings in its category, Little Thieves dispenses with the choo choos, and "I Love Mommy" embroidery in favor of 100-percent cotton tops emblazoned with a slew of edgy images that appeal to both adults and kids. A long-sleeved black tee, for example, features a gang of green and white owls, while a grey hoodie boasts a pair of blue appliquéd ray guns and a white onesie displays a camouflage ice-cream cone.
The brainchild of San Francisco-based textile and fashion designer Faez Fathi and his partner/wife Jen Bright-Fathi (the duo behind cult hit girls' line, Bunny and Bee), Little Thieves' roster will eventually include lifestyle items like printed pillows and tote bags. Until then, baby beanies, bibs and colorful note cards – all featuring Fathi's sci-fi and animation-inspired imagery – round out the collection. Given the adult appeal, it can't be long before a grown-up range makes its debut.
But don't steal their idea.
