Bee-ing Green
So just what are all the fashionable tykes wearing right now? This season, green is the new black, from the spring color to the eco-friendly outlook.
Go for various color combos of bold-striped organic cotton from online retailer Happy Green Bee. This children's line is soft, easy to care for and bursting with exuberant style. The cheerful name makes sense not only because the clothes are covered in sweet bumblebee-style stripes, but also because creator Roxanne Quimby is one of the original founders of Burt's Bees, the all-natural line of beeswax-based skincare products.
As for the "green" part, this unfussy clothing line is as ecologically responsible as it is cute. Materials are organic and recycled, with attention paid at every step to reducing the company's environmental footprint. The organic cotton is grown with no pesticides or chemical fertilizers and no scary genetically modified seeds, and even the buttons are made from post-consumer recycled plastic. Mix and match gender-neutral styles like soft knit leggings, cardigans and hats can be easily recycled (to siblings and friends). And just for the girly girls, there's a charming knit dress with a swirly skirt and handkerchief hemline for lots of movement.
If green isn't your thing, look for the line's other colors – pumpkin, butterscotch, radish, chocolate and bean, to name a few.
