Resident Artist
We've all heard about celebrities who "design" their own clothing and jewelry lines, and "write" their own children's books. But we'll never know how much designing, sketching and writing these supposed jacks-of-all trades do, versus what the team of ghost artists and authors handles behind the scenes.
Now there's a chance for marquee-less mortals to have a hand in creating the perfect artwork for their children's rooms, with the help of the design team at YoonKids. The Yoon sisters have made decorating as easy as pointing and clicking, with artwork that reflects children's diverse backgrounds as well as their varied interests and aspirations.
Select from the site's wide array of hand-drawn figures (girl characters only at this point – the boys' series is coming this summer), decked out in bold colors and graphic patterns. There's the requisite princess and fairy, but also pictures of girls engaging in loftier pursuits like science, astronomy, snowboarding and cello playing. Next, choose picks the hair, skin and background colors. Options range from a girl with "mochaccino" skin and "licorice" hair doing tae kwon do, to a "boysenberry" drummer with "cappuccino" skin.
The final design is put on a water-resistant canvas through a giclée printing process. So even if you never made it past stick figures in art class, you'll still be able to whip up a masterpiece.
