As anyone who's ever survived toilet training will tell you, it's usually more frustrating and takes longer than you imagined. Just when you've managed to graduate to the big potty, your kid falls in with a splash and decides he's never trying again. Or maybe he gets pinched by a "child-friendly" seat and begs to go back to diapers. And what parent hasn't had to cope with slamming lids or a sudden, unexplained fear of being flushed?

Kohler's new Transitions toilet seat is designed for households with young potty apprentices – and the grownups who share bathrooms with them. It's actually two seats in one, with a kid-sized seat tucked between the regular seat and lid. To switch between modes, flip the kid seat up to rest inside the lid. The clever design eliminates the need for a separate removable potty seat – and the less you have to touch the thing, the better (you'll have enough to clean up). The Transitions seat also features Quiet-Close technology to prevent slamming on little fingers, and Quick-Release hinges for easy cleaning (especially useful once the issue of aiming comes into play).
