Hit The Sack
Universal baby dilemma: safe, warm bedding that stays put. You may
be doing a diligent tuck-in at 7pm, but an hour later he's wriggled
free and curled himself into a fetal ball in the corner of the crib
to keep warm. You hate to straight-jacket him under the covers (what
if he gets too hot?) and even when you do, he always seems to Houdini
his way out again.
For years Europeans have used sleeping bags as the alternative to
traditional bedding. Grembo, a parent-founded, environmentally-conscious
company, is helping to bring this trend stateside. Made of organic
cotton fabric that's free of dyes, the Grembo (Italian for womb)
Sleep Sacs zip right over your little one's jammies to keep him
warm and comfortable all night long. To moderate temperature, there
are three different seasonal designs: a breathable weave for summer;
a heavier knit fabric for fall and spring; and a hypoallergenic
polyester filling with cotton cover for the winter months.
Each
season features a couple of cozy styles in earth-tone colors --
quilted chambray or sateen, lined in terry cloth, flannel or fleece,
with a side zipper for newborns or one in front for older babies.
The reverse-zipper design, which closes at the foot of the bag,
means there's no way your little one can squirm his way out. And
although the Grembo is an European design, it's made in the US.
That's one big dilemma solved. Now if only you could wean him off
