Pillow Talk

When it comes to personalizing your little one's space or updating the nursery, nothing works quite like pillows for big impact with little effort. It's one area where you can also give kids the freedom to express themselves and their changing interests (after all, if fire trucks give way to dinosaurs, swapping out throw pillows sure beats repainting a mural). Plus, pillows are huggable and don't crunch under your feet if you step on them, or cause bruising when thrown at siblings. Here's a roundup of some of the latest stylish finds.

Salvor Fauna Pillows
Animal lovers can now cover their beds with something a little cooler than stuffed cartoon critters. This collection of accent pillows by Ross Menuez are emblazoned with striking vintage photos of animals, silk-screened in vibrant colors onto cotton broadcloth. Creatures range from the exotic (leopards, zebras, falcons) to the familiar (cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels). Best of all, each pillow is shaped like the animal printed on it, adding to the reality factor. salvornyc.com, dwrjax.com or greenergrassdesign.com.

Not Neutral

The name says it all. These bold pillows from the innovative L.A.-based Rios Clementi Hale Studios feature white backgrounds with abstract, graphic prints in punched up colors. Red and black, bright blue, hot pink, orange – the ideal antidote to pink and blue. Bonus: the high-contrast patterns offer plenty of infant stimulation. notneutral.com.

twenty2

This debut collection of pillows from Kyra and Robertson Hartnett, husband and wife wallpaper and textile design team, showcases their unique hand-printed fabrics. Pillows are 100 percent linen, with crisp graphic patterns and colors that add an elegant, but modern touch. shoptwenty2.com.

Dwell Baby
For the sophisticated nursery, Dwell's boudoir pillows with hypoallergenic filling in plant and animal motif patterns are the perfect finishing touch. Available in mellow colors like chocolate and robins-egg blue, they're great for a nursery chair or a toddler bed. dwellshop.com or blackwagon.com.

Winter Water Factory
For a unique look, this company designs their own exclusive fabrics. The colorful pillows are hand screen-printed on 100 percent Belgian linen.
