Dish it Out
Whether setting the table for a holiday dinner or takeout Chinese, kids' junky plastic dishes look all wrong. You've either got Scooby Doo and Dora on the table, or you're still using the cheapo flower-shaped set that's warped from a couple of sessions in the dishwasher.
Toss that ugly stuff and get something pleasing to the palette. Oots, maker of the ingenious Bbib (the bib with sleeves), has introduced a new line of kids dishes that finally bring some style to this overlooked category. The sets, called Two Dishes and a Cup, include a plate, bowl, cup, fork and spoon, and come packed in a stylish pouch perfect for gift giving. The melamine dishes are unbreakable and dishwasher-safe – but any similarity to other kid-size dishes ends there. Instead of the same old shapes, these pieces feature unique contours, crafted for Oots by a renowned ceramicist. The designs (boy, girl, flying egg, melon) are kid friendly but very modern, and match the images on the original terrycloth Bbibs.
With such a sensible shape and feel, don't be surprised if you hijack the dishes for ice cream (yours) once the kiddies have gone to sleep.
If no one sees you, it doesn't count.
