Garden Gnomes

Who says city kids can’t have green thumbs? Certainly not David Kirk, of Miss Spider fame. Kirk’s latest soon-to-be-released book is called Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Kids and it has spawned a television show -- Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends -- and a line of brightly colored kids’ gardening toys and gear.

The 3-D computer animated show won’t hit Nick Jr. until late this summer, but the product line -- which highlights new and familiar characters such as Pitter-Patter Caterpillar and Augie Alligator, includes outdoor chairs, a playhouse, croquet set, garden tools, raincoats, boots, and umbrellas -- is available now.

Bring on the April showers.
