The Big Sleep
The move from crib to big-kid bed is an exciting milestone. Time to celebrate with a set of special bedding. The challenge? Steering tots away from the mundane (no more princesses, please!) to kid-friendly linens that celebrate the exuberance of childhood – sans the movie tie-ins.
Kukunest is a bedding company that does bold colors and original style that's kiddie, but also kind to a designer eye. Oeko-Tex (a Euro standard that's eco-friendly) twin-size cotton duvet sets feature creative, childlike (but not too cutesy) design themes: an Asian-influenced "Lantern Festival" in bold reds and pinks; "Intergalactic," an appealing hand-drawn universe; "Deep Sea," full of bright colored underwater critters; and the sophisticated "Around the World," with a free-spirited balloonist soaring among iconic global landmarks. Sets include a standard pillow sham to complete the whimsical look.
Each theme also offers coordinating sheet sets in solids and subtle patterns of mosaic and dots, plus wall art, including a lucky dragon, an elephant-riding visitor to an Indian palace, abstract jellyfish and an alien landscape. Bright saturated colors invite young imaginations to dream – without being Mom's nightmare.
Everyone's happy – and another milestone met.
