You don't have to look very hard to find examples of girls gone wild – and vile. There's Mean Girls, the much-hyped feuds between Lauren and Heidi, Nicole and Paris, Lindsay and Paris, Mischa and Paris (busy woman), Gossip Girl, and so on. But hey, we're not all bad.
It's a point underscored by artist Kelly Rae Roberts, who celebrates sisterly solidarity in her whimsical mixed media paintings, created with acrylics, ink, patterned papers and vintage buttons and jewels. The works, which depict mothers and daughters, female siblings and quirky independent ladies, are a perfect way to bring beauty to a young girl's room, while imparting a positive message. Many of the pieces, also available as prints, even have inspirational words and phrases like "quiet your inner critic" and "own your talent" integrated into the design.
It may not be enough to protect her from The Plastics, but it's a step in the right direction.
