Stick With It
When you hear the word "mural" associated with children's décor, do you run screaming? Just imagining all the poorly rendered cartoon characters and undersea creatures that could inhabit your nursery makes you long for spray paint and a clever tag. MumZ?
But let's face it: Those white walls are bo-ring, especially to your color-struck child. You wouldn't mind an artistic way to dress up the room, but you've got to be able to live with it.
Skip the full-color woodland scene, and try something subtle. From French artist Miriam Derville comes Mimi'lou, a line of decorative decals that transform a wall, window, mirror or piece of furniture with line drawings. Among the designs are kid-fave critters like bunnies, dinosaurs, butterflies, penguins and hippos. Or create an original look with striking vignettes like "boy explaining" or "girl and butterfly" that bring a retro sweetness to a baby's room. Even better, opt for the ultimate baby picture by ordering a personalized portrait decal created from your own photos
To apply, press the decal onto the wall then peel away the paper, and what's left is a charming design that looks hand-sketched. Whenever the image stops working for you (or your suddenly too-cool kids), no problem – the decals come off easily.
Consider them murals for the mural-resistant.
