Lovey. Blankie. Bobo. No matter what this threadbare blanket or mangy stuffed animal is called in your house, its purpose is clear: to provide comfort to its tiny (and at times tyrannical) owner when no one and nothing else can.
Across the pond in Jo Ashburner's family, this almighty object is dubbed a "Noonoo" and her England-based company of the same name is devoted to all manner of silly and soothing things. There are soft, felted lambswool blankets with nubs and flaps to amuse little fingers (or mouths), whimsical alpaca knit sheep and a cotton rattle. Each is handmade in a sweatshop-free environment and features embroidered motifs inspired by the artwork of Ashburner's young son.
Most importantly, the pieces are designed to stand up to the dragging-chewing-twisting kind of tough love your bantam bloke has to offer.
