There are lots of fun parks in dc so make sure to get to some so the 2 year old can fun. I like the Caulder (sp?) exhibit at the national gallery and botanical gardens might be fun with a 2 year old.

My parents took me when I was a kid. Ronald Reagan & Nancy came out on the balcony and waved. It wasn't long after he'd be been shot. Andrea McArdle and some of the other recent Annie's of the time played on the bandstand. I have a feeling they've scaled it back since then but I wouldn't know as it's been about 30 years!

Great school. Not as strong as NCS or Holton, but still good. Beautiful campus. Good teachers, not sure about current parent body. It's in Bethesda though, so if living in Bethesda, the public schools are excellent so explore those as well.

Dupont Circle and Georgetown are my favorite areas. Main problem with Georgetown is that it lacks Metro access, but you still may find it worth it. Woodley Park by the Zoo is a bit quieter and has the obvious benefit of easy zoo access, which is especially nice with kids. Do a quick walk-through in the morning before the crowds arrive then head to the Metro to go to the Mall, etc.

McLean has 2 high schools. Probably as good as, say, any high school in Westchester. Also Thomas Jefferson HSin Alexandria, VA -- competitive admission science/math school. contender for best HS in America. Can't tell you about rest of NoVa.

National Cathedral (girls), Sidwell Friends (coed). Tuitions are comparable to NYC. Salaries are lower in DC unless you're a diplomat, partner at a law firm or sr. Mgmt at a big co. Doctors make nothing down there...no way we could afford private in DC.

in Northern Virginia there is Madeira and St. Agnes, both girl's schools. Bethesda actually has some of the best public schools in the country so why bother with private?

NCS (girls) is in DC, another good one is Holton Arms in Bethesda or Madeira in Bethesda. Lower cost but still good is Georgetown Visitation (catholic) best coeds are sidwell friends, Georgetown day and maret.

Married 15 years, and we can go for long stretches. Right now I'm pregnant so that's part of it. The other night I suggested he get his hormone levels checked because he doesn't want sex enough. Well low and behold we've had sex twice since. Maybe mention that and see what happens.

OP-And I should say that we are both attractive individuals who exercise and take decent care of ourselves. We haven't let ourselves go. Part of me is fine with no sex life with DH because the sex isn't good when it does happen but another part of me wants a better sex life but not sure that is even possible with him. I feel frustrated and stuck.

this is me, and the worst part is wanting for it to be better but having a high degree of uncertainty that that is possible with DH. I'm mid-40's, I suppose in a few years when menopause hits I won't care anymore

Downtown tends to be more expensive, about the same as NYC unless you can get it through your employer (dh's work has subsidized day care). My friend has a dd in a good daycare downtown and pays $2600, I think). In VA, you can probably pay less, but not sure what the prices are since I don't live there.

^^or maybe she pays 2300, can't remember now, sorry. Also, in MD close-in suburbs you can pay closer to 2k, maybe the same for Arlington.

I'd avoid Dewey - it's the least family friendly. Love South Bethany and Rehobeth. Quieter more family oriented. We usually rent a beach house so haven't stayed in a hotel but Sea Colony has condos in both places sort of hotel-ish. My kids LOVE it. Your 7 year old will be able to boogie board there - the waves aren't too bad.

I love Ocean City. Try the Holiday Inn. They have an indoor and outdoor pool and I think some of the suites are on or really close to the beach. The indoor pool is great if it's too nippy outside.
