We don't drive kids up they take a bus. on the positive side for the youngest camper their trunks are unpacked and bed made when they arrive and they get them right out playing to help avoid kids getting homesick. [ Reply | More ]

No, good medicine is defined by what is recommended by peer reviewed studies. I think doctors who don't take health insurance are more likely to offer treatments with no scientific backing because they want to make their customers happy. For example, I think a doctor who didn't take insurance would be more likely to give antibiotics even when it wasn't indicated, if that's what their patient wanted. [ Reply | More ]

My dd developed car nausea around 6yo. We make sure she has a fullish stomach before starting a trip. Sometimes an empty stomach an exacerbate the feeling of nausea. Also, I have sometimes let her crawl up to the front seat and sit on my lap seatbelted with me. Given the way my dh drives, backseat passengers sure can develop G-force issues. Front seat passengers have it a lot easier with the visual references and cues to anticipate change in balance and speed. Just think about your cab ride with a speedy hasty driver, that's what it can be like. [ Reply | More ]

Next time she calls: "It's so nice of you to call, but honestly, I'm really struggling just to tread water with my obligation to work and family right now. I just can't make plans. Some days, I can't even manage to return phone calls. I will definitely give you a call when I'm able to make plans with you." Then, stop picking up her calls. Also, email the rabbi and tell her/him that you are doing this and that if they want to arrange for social services for her that might be a good idea. [ Reply | More ]

If your kind nature makes you do something with her (you sound so lovely, I am thinking you are going to get caught up again...), instead of making plans to do something just with her during time you don't have, take her with you for things you want or need to do anyway like going to the playground then out for ice cream with your dc, or grocery shopping, or shopping for other necessities. it's about shelters on public buildings that have many people on them, even worst if it's kids (daycare, schools...). a kid who is at school unprotected isn't going to be helped by a home shelter. my family in OK has a great shelter, doesn't help AT ALL if any of the kids is at school. It's not just guys. I used to work with a woman who was based in Chicago. Every time she came to NYC (6-10 times per year) we'd start a pool for who she'd try to sleep with, who she'd actually sleep with and what time/what night she'd first take off her shirt in public. This woman had a team, was a managing director at an IB, it was ridiculous. [ Reply | More ]
