My son loves rice and beans that she makes. I make sure he has a salad or other veggies.

Nanny here. This is something that varies a lot by job. Some employers have the nanny do the cooking, some do it all themself, and everything in between. There's no "right" or even "typical" way for this exactly. Ultimately, the best way to handle this is to decide if you want the nanny to cook, set clear guidelines for what you expect in the contract, and make it clear from the get go.

This. You can't just assume that the nanny will cook healthy meals. If you expect this, you need to make that clear up front.

Nanny cooks. This was a requirement for the job. Lots of veggies and protein. I usually buy the groceries and tell her what is available and she figures out what dish to cook.

No, I am trying to maintain grace. I could cry, though. This isn't atypical of his behavior. I am also a little annoyed at some people on my team for not having followed up with him as they did not hear from him (and I told them that if he did not respond or provide X by a certain date, to please follow up - they do know him).

I did let him know but tried not to seem aggravated about it. I told him how we were very sensitive to the deadlines and I had told him who to contact. But we look stupid because my team did not follow through when they did not hear from him.

Oh please, it's also really nice for the kids to be near family. Now of days, most kids hardly know their cousins and see their grandparents once a year.

My aunt had 4 singletons in 4 years and had next to no help (her mother lived nearby, but was very ill and died when the youngest was 6 months old). Every one of them says it was chaos in their house for years. They each have 2 DCs - none would have more than that. They all agree that it was among the stupider things their parents did - spreading them out more would have been better for everyone, particularly my aunt, who was physically drained by four pregnancies in four years.

Exactly. People notice when there is one Asian person in a group of 10, never mind two or three. 1/10 is less than the Asian representation in the overall population and certainly less than in Manhattan.

OP: No I just thought it was crazy that there were rows and rows of Mandarin speaking parents in the auditorium and a whole lot of Russians. I would have thought there would be more of every group. I just have heard that there are G&T cram schools/tutors in Queens and Chinatown where they've gotten hold of the test and have very high success rates....I have no idea if there's any truth to that though since the moms who mentioned it just "heard it somewhere" - no reliable sources.

Asians have a strong reputation for making education the most important thing in their lives, we all know this. Doubt they needed the actual test to do well. They probably prepped the same way we all did. Not sure about the Russians.

I run. I come home, change out of my work clothes into my running clothes, do the dinner / bath / book routine with the kids, and then I'm out the door as soon as they are asleep. Not every night, but at least twice during the work week. During the weekends I try to go early in the am before the rest of the family is really up and about.

I don't really, but here's how I try to fit in some things: I walk to work as often as possible (walk home when I can, but less often), take steps instead of elevator / escalator whenever I can, do planks in my office after pumping (2x / day) since the door is shut already, and make an effort to do wall sits or something like that when reading documents.

None just different brands. At any, you have to find the instructor(s) you like. Big differences between individual teachers.

both flywheel and soulcycle are spinning. Spinning in just indoor stationary bike riding. My experience was that FlyWheel was more "technical" and less about great music. The bike has read outs that tell you torque you have and resistance. A leader board flashes your score/speed at certain points during the class. FlyWheel also offers a variation on the standard bar class. SoulCycle is less about the technicals of spinning and more about good music, finding the beat and doing choreography. Tap backs, push ups, crunches. You do WAY more of these in soulcycle than you do at flywheel. Flywheel also gives me a more girly cult feel - the halls will be PACKED with tons of ladies in their lulu's, nikes and soul gear all chatting about what happened in the hamptons in their share house last weekend.

Nope I'm only 38 and have very regular cycles....I know this feeling, I've had two children. shit. I hope I'm just paranoid. It's too early to test.

It's possible to get a positive result now, but not as likely. So while a positive would settle things, a negative wouldn't tell you anything for sure. Test if you'd like, but if it's negative, you'll need to test again. Why do you think you're pregnant? Just the weird feeling?

If you want something a bit less pink, butter London yummy mummy. It is a slightly shimmery nude, I do my own nails with this and it is so easy and looks much more professional then when I do a pale pink

if they are well behaved you can leave them - if they are going to talk and giggle and text while sitting near me - I'm going to ask the house manager to ask them to leave.

I doubt they are allowed in without one guardian. Most places the minimum age w/o guardian is 12... are any of the girls 11? Also, are all their parents fine with this? I'm not so sure I would be...

I think at this age you should go. My 13 yo dd is very trustworthy, but even so I'm not sure I'd allow her and her friends to do this totally unsupervised.

And I'm not saying I for sure would not allow it. But I'd be on the fence. At this age, the movies and such don't worry me. But something like Blue Man Group would depend a bit on the friends and the details. I'm not sure I wouldn't let her go. But I'm not sure that I would.

You seem to be going 100% by test scores. Note that PS 9 is a fantastic school, but its test scores include G&T classes they have there (being phased out). Don't know about the other two schools. There are many other schools that are just as good that may have slightly lower test scores, if only because they do not have G&T classes averaged in. That said, last I heard PS 9 is not overcrowded. If you live in zone they have not had trouble getting all zoned kids in the school. However, they will most likely not have room for non-zoned kids.

PS9 is a fantastic school, even without the G&T. The G&T teachers are still there, now teaching gen ed. No overcrowding issues--shouldn't be a problem getting in.

A lot of people who could be considered "WASPs" come from families that USED to have a lot of money, but current generations don't. Not that they are poor by any means, but not crazy rich by any means. This would be my family. Family here since the 1700s, and LOTS of money up until my grandmother's generation.
