[ - ] I just saw pictures on Facebook of an ex's wedding. I have no interest in being with him (and it has been years since we broke up), but it still made me a little sad, and a teeny bit resentful that he "picked" her, when he always told me wasn't ready to get serious. I have a history of a wandering eye that I have not acted on in my current relationship of several years. Whenever I think about how great it would be to sleep with someone else, I think of the multitude of consequences and realize that it's really and truly not worth it. On the other hand, some people are into open relationships with a lot of ground rules -- maybe that can be an option for you. [ Reply | More ]

I always wonder about people who are like this... is it that you know the consequences and just don't care? Meaning, you know that it will devastate your DH and end your marriage. At the very least it will destroy his confidence and trust. How do you rationalize doing that to someone you love? Is it just that you love yourself more? So, at bottom, it's an issue of selfishness? I'm sorry. Do you not indulge like 99% of people in NY in inviting your friends out to dinner to celebrate your birthday? My friends aren't going to organize it for me cause I guess I'm not THAT cool, but I still feel like after going to everyone else's similar parties during the course of the year that yeah, its ok for me to invite my friends to come out to dinner with me on my birthday. They all do the same thing. And yes I did invite this friend who'm I've supported and been there for, lent money to and hosted at my house, to come out and pay for her dinner and part of mine. I know that awful right? [ Reply | More ]

My friends and I do the same thing - when we go out for someone's birthday, we all pay our own way and pitch in for the birthday girl. Usually someone other than the bday girl will make the reservation and sometimes send out the email invite, but not always. None of us can afford to foot the entire bill for our birthday dinners. As for your friend - I think it was shitty of her to blow you off, but if she is as broke as you say, she may have been too embarrassed to say she could not afford to come (especially if you picked an expensive place) [ Reply | More ]

If she regularly flakes, then rethink whether the friendship is working for you. If she rarely flakes, then calling her would be the thing to do. As others mentioned, something awful could have happened to her. The fact that you haven't called her leads me to believe that either a) she always flakes; or b) you don't really care about her. [ - ] Excluding finance/wall street guys, what percentage of the average NYC upper middle class man cheats? Do have they as many options? Do you think there is an age or time in marriage that contributes? I have known men who have expecting wives to cheat, also men who are newleyweds etc. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Newlyweds? Sound like the unrepentant cheater type (eg, Tiger Woods). Expectant wife, I could see more likely to be a more regular guy if its DC#3 many years into marriage and the pregnancy is a compounding stress. Bottom line though, I think the type that cheats is someone who has a selfish bent and is going through a stressful time in a marriage and uses that as excuse to justify to self [ Reply | More ]

Yes totally agree. But do you think they have options if they are not super, super wealthy finance types? Like just an average executive, layer, accountant etc. [ Reply | More ]

To cheat on your pregnant wife is so low. She is making your baby and you are out getting your dick wet? The worst. [ Reply | More ]

Why NYC? Weird people would think the most cheaters are here... used to live in a small town in Idaho (bleh!) and there were so many cheaters. Also: weird fact - read in a book once that 73% of French men cheat on their wives at least once. Crazy!! [ Reply | More ]

Some guys cheat and some guys don't. It had nothing to do with money or social status. I find men from divorced backgrounds cheat less because it usually is what broke up their parents and they know how it feels for the other person. [ Reply | More ]
