one dc? I think you can manage. Get a nanny, housekeeper and an occasional evening/weekend sitter. You'll have too much time on your hands if p/t.

I have all that, but I have a super-intense job that saps me emotionally so that when I get home at 7 pm, I just want to be left alone. DH home by 9 and DC an early riser.

The question is really whether you like your job/career. If not, then go p/t. If so, then work it out. I'm in the same boat except dh gets home before me.

Like the career, hate the job. Took it to be near colleagues I liked because I was afraid of being isolated as an older (new) mom. DH and I just so raw all the time and we are hoping that a more laid-back me will help the atmosphere at home. Nowhere near divorce or anything, just not laughing and laid-back as we should be and thought we would be.

I don't know what you do for a living, but I worked PT for about a year and it didn't really help. My job doesn't lend itself to PT-ing and I found it stressful trying to meet deadlines. I think the best thing to do if you want to keep working is to hire the best help you can get.

Read the peggy orenstein article in the NYT magazine from a couple of weeks ago -- there are tons of false positives, and lots of over treatment. That's why we all know people with breast cancer. If you don't have symptoms, don't worry.

Whatever the result, you are doing the right thing by getting the test. I have a family history and stress out every time. But, treatments are so much better these days, and it is important to catch it early. Fingers crossed.

perhaps it is - however - summer vacation is to be spent on whatever the child and the parents decide. I fell it is overreaching to assign homework to a child who doesn't even attend your school. Schools need to back off and let families be together without homework interfering (it 9 weeks for goodness sake).

THIS is BUNK!!!!!! It is a total falsehood. Any data stating this is about children who come from lower socioeconomic homes - and it has NOTHING to do with assigned summer homework - if you are going to read something about a study and then quote it to someone else AT LEAST KNOW WHAT THE STUDY ACTUALLY SHOWED.

Steven A. Scharwzman and Pete Peterson of Blackstone (he's married to Joan Ganz Cooney, who created Sesame Street.) Several other hedge fund guys who you are too clueless to recognize but who can buy and sell you without blinking. Richard Gere. Hugh Jackman just looked for a house in the area. Matt Lauer has 40 acres there. There are more but I'm not bothering to look them up for someone who calls the area a "ghetto."

It might be better (depending on your sightseeing goals) to have them read an art history overview. Gombrich's The Story of Art is a bit outdated, but maybe something along those lines.

The book "The Story Of Mankind" by van Loon was the very first newberry award winner. It is a survey of history "from the beginning". Brief chapters on each topic. It got harder to get through once we were into WWI, but the beginning went quickly (I did it as a read-aloud). Perhaps you could do a chapter a night at dinner before you go and while you are in the car, etc. My teenager still likes being read to, don't know if yours would (but they may not read the book on their own). For fiction, if you are going to Paris, you should pick up the Kiki Strike series. The first two books are set in NYC, but the third has a Paris setting. They are great fun to read, and will give a bit of history and get them excited for Paris. If you are headed to Italy, the youngest should read "the roman mystery series" by Caroline Lawrence. The author is a genius at incorporating historical fact into mysteries set in Ancient Rome (and Ostia). The characters live through the eruption of Pompeii and witness the opening of the colosseum for example. So well done.

A good travel book (something along the lines of the Eyewitness travel guides) has a section on history. I'm a big fan of an Italian series: Ancient Rome for Kids (in two volumes) by Parisi and Punzi and Venice for Kids by Puascalin. Florence, Just Add Water might work for the younger ones.

I would get some fun books, maybe historical fiction or something like that. Who wants to read an AP Euro history book outside of class? If she's 17, she's probably already studied it. Maybe Hilary Mantel if you're going to England, stuff like that.

The cook's illustrated way is delicious. Preheat foil lined roasting pan at 400deg. Cut up a head of broccoli into 8 large sections, so that there's a flat side to every section. Toss big florets with olive oil, salt, pepper, and a tiny bit of sugar to help caramelization. Take out roasting pan and drop on florets so they sizzle when they hit the pan. Roast at 400 until knife pierces broccoli easily. DH says it's as good as candy.

We had a beach home and a fair child. He got a pretty bad sunburn. It was due to miscommunication where DH thought I had sun-screened and I thought he did.

My kids wear SPF 50 every day in the summer and still get pretty dark tans. They never burn, though. I blame genetics. They swim, play outside, and play tennis most days. I guess if I kept them at home in front of the TV they wouldn't tan. Would that be better parenting?

No one will pay anywhere near that for a used stroller. Half, or less than half, that amount *might* garner some interest.

OP, it comes fully loaded with bassinets, car seat adaptor and two Bugaboo High Performance foot muffs - it all retails for around $2400. What do you suggest I price it at?

or: No one shopping for used stroller cares that much about the foot muffs. You have spent too much on your stroller and you will not get it back. You have to be realistic. How old is it and how long have you used it?

It's about a year old and people DO care about foot muffs. I sold the original foot muffs and had multiple offers on them. I just want to get rid of it and be able to buy a City Select. I don't think I spent too much on it, it is an AMAZING stroller and I am sad to let it go.

Good luck to you. But I maintain, if someone is going to spend $1700 on stroller, they are not buying something one year old that someone else's baby spit up on (and even if you cleaned it, we all know your baby spit up on it). No way.

I get that but I shop craigslist for used baby stuff all the time and you will NOT get what you are asking. If you have time to waste and want to maximize your profit you might be better off selling the basic Donkey and selling accessories separately. Price the basic Donkey at 50% of retail so around $700 and then try to sell all your accessories. Your competition is new city mini or b-ready and these are around $300.

this seems like a lot, you may want to consider pricing it separately as well. that said, give it a few days and see if you get any responses. if not, you know you didn't price it right
