Like the career, hate the job. Took it to be near colleagues I liked because I was afraid of being isolated as an older (new) mom. DH and I just so raw all the time and we are hoping that a more laid-back me will help the atmosphere at home. Nowhere near divorce or anything, just not laughing and laid-back as we should be and thought we would be. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know what you do for a living, but I worked PT for about a year and it didn't really help. My job doesn't lend itself to PT-ing and I found it stressful trying to meet deadlines. I think the best thing to do if you want to keep working is to hire the best help you can get. [ Reply | More ]

The book "The Story Of Mankind" by van Loon was the very first newberry award winner. It is a survey of history "from the beginning". Brief chapters on each topic. It got harder to get through once we were into WWI, but the beginning went quickly (I did it as a read-aloud). Perhaps you could do a chapter a night at dinner before you go and while you are in the car, etc. My teenager still likes being read to, don't know if yours would (but they may not read the book on their own). For fiction, if you are going to Paris, you should pick up the Kiki Strike series. The first two books are set in NYC, but the third has a Paris setting. They are great fun to read, and will give a bit of history and get them excited for Paris. If you are headed to Italy, the youngest should read "the roman mystery series" by Caroline Lawrence. The author is a genius at incorporating historical fact into mysteries set in Ancient Rome (and Ostia). The characters live through the eruption of Pompeii and witness the opening of the colosseum for example. So well done. [ Reply | More ]

The cook's illustrated way is delicious. Preheat foil lined roasting pan at 400deg. Cut up a head of broccoli into 8 large sections, so that there's a flat side to every section. Toss big florets with olive oil, salt, pepper, and a tiny bit of sugar to help caramelization. Take out roasting pan and drop on florets so they sizzle when they hit the pan. Roast at 400 until knife pierces broccoli easily. DH says it's as good as candy. [ Reply | More ]

Sorry, no, but I am surprised and pleased to hear that a UBer did a favor for another UBer IRL. [ Reply | More ]

We had a beach home and a fair child. He got a pretty bad sunburn. It was due to miscommunication where DH thought I had sun-screened and I thought he did. [ Reply | More ]

My kids wear SPF 50 every day in the summer and still get pretty dark tans. They never burn, though. I blame genetics. They swim, play outside, and play tennis most days. I guess if I kept them at home in front of the TV they wouldn't tan. Would that be better parenting? [ Reply | More ]

No one will pay anywhere near that for a used stroller. Half, or less than half, that amount *might* garner some interest. [ Reply | More ]

or: No one shopping for used stroller cares that much about the foot muffs. You have spent too much on your stroller and you will not get it back. You have to be realistic. How old is it and how long have you used it? [ Reply | More ]

It's about a year old and people DO care about foot muffs. I sold the original foot muffs and had multiple offers on them. I just want to get rid of it and be able to buy a City Select. I don't think I spent too much on it, it is an AMAZING stroller and I am sad to let it go. [ Reply | More ]

Good luck to you. But I maintain, if someone is going to spend $1700 on stroller, they are not buying something one year old that someone else's baby spit up on (and even if you cleaned it, we all know your baby spit up on it). No way. [ Reply | More ]

I get that but I shop craigslist for used baby stuff all the time and you will NOT get what you are asking. If you have time to waste and want to maximize your profit you might be better off selling the basic Donkey and selling accessories separately. Price the basic Donkey at 50% of retail so around $700 and then try to sell all your accessories. Your competition is new city mini or b-ready and these are around $300. [ Reply | More ]

this seems like a lot, you may want to consider pricing it separately as well. that said, give it a few days and see if you get any responses. if not, you know you didn't price it right [ Reply | More ]
