How new is this bf? How many times have you faked it so far? This is why I think it's a bad idea to fake it; now, not only do you you need to teach him to do things correctly (if you want to stay with him), you also have to figure out how not to offend him when he realizes he hasn't been getting you there so far. horrible combination as some things just cannot be taught. Think you made a mistake to go the "fake" route. Poor guy thinks he's got you all hot and bothered when it's just not happening for you. You need to figure out how to add a vibrator so that you can actually enjoy yourself. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Mens watch question: Is Lucien Piccard a 'good' brand? What about Swiss Legend? And Invicta is sort of crappy, yes? To give an idea of dh's taste, most of the time he wears a vintage Rolex which I got him a long time ago when we got engaged. Last year when I wanted to get him something nice but less expensive to wear some days, someone suggested Movado ESQ and I bought one that he loves. I also gave him a skeleton watch by Stuhrling that was less successful. TIA for comments on the above, and other suggestions gratefully received as well. 26 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] S/O-Why do SAHMs get so much BS for not working? Neither of my parents stayed home, my dad was an attorney and my mom was a surgeon, so they both had very demanding jobs. I made myself dinner every night starting in MS, nobody ever came to my soccer games to cheer for me, I did a lot of bad things that they never even new about, because they weren't around, I feel I missed out on a lot, because both of my parents were so career oriented. I'm not naive, I know that it doesn't have to be like this for all WOHMs and this isn't the case for most, but for me it was important to stay home with my kids after I had them. I went to a good college, I could go back to work if I wanted to and make a decent living for myself, but it's something I choose not to do. It's what I feel is best for me and my family just as for many people and families it works best for the mom to be a WOHM. My husband makes a good salary which he is able to support our family on and I'm thankful for that. Being a WOHM doesn't mean you don't love your kids or take care of your family and being a SAHM doesn't mean you're too lazy to do anything else and you married DH for his money, ok? We all need to choose what makes us happy in life. 30 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

she wants you to feel badly for staying at home. don't. the truth is that you can always create a second chapter of your career. if you go back you won't be willing to fight the newbies at biglaw for scraps anyway! you're an intelligent woman. it scares many women to step out of the rat race, but when you do, it's not the end. trust me. working on chapter 2 now! the career that i want post staying at home with child is so different than what i had before, so my ability to get back in that particular game is irrelevant to me. plus, stepping outside the rat race gives you so much more perspective on ways to earn money through a career that aren't just corporate and draining but profitable and satisfying. I'm a WOHM and I'm very sorry for your childhood experience and I'm glad you've found what works best for you. That being said, I think it is a two-way street. My parents were very religious and fully expected that their daughters would be SAH because that is what women were so supposed to do. My mom was SAHM my time at home and she was deeply depressed and abusive. So abusive that I hated her for years and years and vowed to never put myself in that position. I recognize, though, that it was my own particular experience and not that of others. I don't really think we can make decisions based on how we were raised, but what we feel in our gut is best for our family. [ Reply | More ]

You try to correct what you feel hurt you/was lacking in your upbringing. I was moved often ,continents, as a young child. My clueless parents never prepared us and what do i do now? Firmly planted in one place, want to go to same restaurants, vacation spots, need familiaity. It feels important to me because thats what 'traumaised' me. With kids, you get an opportunity to master, correct some ills from your childhood. Its as much about you as itis about whats best. [ Reply | More ]

People should do whatever works for their family - but your experience is yours, and has nothing to do w/ others' Both my parents worked and our lives were great -- because they both love us to death and would do anything for us. They were great role models and worked to provide a good life for us. Sounds like your parents were pretty driven and career-oriented - which is a bit self-serving - but they probably also did it to give you a good life. Your choices were your choices - don't blame your parents for not being around. Own your choices. [ Reply | More ]

It means that if you have a 1060 on the SAT, if you are African American, you get the advantage of an equivalent 230 increase on your SAT. If you are white and have a 1060, you have a 1060. If you are black and 1060, you get an admissions advantage as if you had a 1290 SAT. [ Reply | More ]

Actually, if you are white and had a parent go to that college, you get an extra 160 points. So OP, you believe admission to every college should be based only on SAT? The top scores get in, period? No grades, essays, extras? It's all about the SAT? Fine, but lol, don't complain when your white son still doesn't get in! [ Reply | More ]

What OP is trying to explain is that if you are a white child of an alumni, your SAT score can be 160 points below the school's average. What is amazing is that assuming it is a decent school, you are the fortunate child to have a college educated parent. Whereas for an African or Hispanic student, who is far and way MUCH more likely to be the first person in his/her family to attend college, their SAT scores are also below average, even a bit more than the white kids of alums. She is saying that if you are going to lower standards so much for rich kids with college educated parents, then you should certainly lower them for poor kids who may be the first in their family to go to college. Now, I can't even find the damn jeans. They are spread out by designer and not in one area. I guess JCP doesn't know who their shopper is. If we cared about labels, we would be shopping there! We went through this exact same situation five years ago. The one neighbor is old, retired, bored and angry. He kept calling the town and filing complaints so the building inspector kept having to respond. The inspector eventually told us that he'd never known such a nuisance and they just started to ignore him, we were doing everything by the book so had nothing to hide. The problem with a neighbor who's been there a long time is they think they have a say in how others, especially new people, use their PRIVATE property. Try to keep your cool and avoid him as much as possible, but if you need to tell him you're going to call the local precinct and let them know that he's harassing you. Once you're finished with the reno he'll need to move on and find something else to complain about. GL!! [ Reply | More ]
