[ - ] NYC mom here- Can you Boston moms help me out? Found out we will be on the Cape (Yarmouthport) this summer for a good part of it. I have two kids (8 & 4) and I need the name of programs or summer camps to look into. Websites would be helpful for summer activities too. Thank you. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

The only one I can think of is closer to Plymouth, but try the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce ... they're VERY helpful with such matters. Have fun .. Yarmouthport is lovely. [ Reply | More ]

np:I agree with this suggestion, also there is a summer baseball league for college players and they run a baseball camp for kids (not sure if the 4yo could do it). [ Reply | More ]

You'll find friends on the beach (especially if you go to the same one every day). Also the summer rental cottages make for great "neighborhoods". Very old-school, kids running around etc. [ Reply | More ]

We will be staying at my inlaw's place- a gated retirement community. It will be fine, but there are no families. Hey, it's free and they won't be there. Very lucky. How do I find the baseball league? Is there a swim camp? Again- thank you Boston moms. I can return the favor if you come to NYC ;) [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Have 2 acres of property that really needs cleaning up. Shrubs need to be cut, leaves cleaned up, lawn mowed, dead trees removed, old weeds removed. Was quoted $3000 and $1800 by two different people. New at this. Is this realistic for heavy duty cleaning. I also have a major slope that needs raking and weed removal 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] ANother Hunter Question (NP): anyone here surprised that their child scored high enough for round 2? (more inside) My older DC is very obviously bright--knew numbers. letters, asked great questions. was an obvious candidate. Scored well, made it to round 2, but rejected. DC #2 doesn't seem as "bright" to me, but teachers. doctors etc say dc is very bright etc. I honestly can't imagine him scoring high enough and it IS expensive. Any btdt think it is worth our time? Dc would be on the young side so will not take ERB's until next spring so don't have that score to work from. thanks in advance 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Complete surprise. If you have the 250, I guess I would go for it. But how will you feel about 2 kids in 2 different schools? Can younger sib be in same school with older. [ Reply | More ]

Younger will prob get into older sibs school, but Hunter is actually more convenient so it would not be a hardship to make 2 stops in the morning. Dc is really young- december- so I think it is nearly impossible, but I think we could swing the sb. It wou ld be a good indicator for the erb, i guess. [ Reply | More ]

It's not just the schlepping, but two dif vacation schedules, two schools to volunteer for, one school is much more convenient. FWIW I know several kids with Oct-Dec bdays who have been admitted. They label the kids as young/avg/old at the second round so I think they try and factor in the developmental range. Also the SB is normed I think in 3mo intervals so I Jan and Dec bday are scaled differently [ Reply | More ]

Re: any boston moms on? actual city? Lived in different neighborhoods for 12 years until bailing for the 'burbs in '05 (kid got too big for small house in Southie--we either had to move or shoot a tranquilizer dart into his butt--moving seemed less likely to end in an interview with DSS).
