Okay so I have the best answer. I am experienced in this dilemma because I have a beloved Aunt and Uncle who LOVE horrible food- they LOVE Carrows, Dennys, Applebees, Arbys, Panora Bread, mall food court stuff, etc. And because I love them, I will tag along and go with them and be a good sport when they want to eat at these places. After much first-person research, I have figured out that the best type of thing to get at any place like this is something that's mass-produced, frozen, then heated up at the restaurant. This is because they can't make it disgusting, because they don't really have autonomy to cook it any other way than heat it up. So get things like fish sticks or chicken tenders. Another hard to make gross option is a grilled cheese. But I've even seen THAT screwed up to the point where it's inedible (single sliced orange cheese, not melted barely warm, on a plain untoasted hot dog bun). But if you get a frozen breaded type meat that's heated up, they tend to be not horrible. Mac and cheese is another good choice. God speed! [ Reply | More

I grew up with money. I was taught it was impolite to show it. My mother always said that if a friend (any friend; we didn't check to see what "class" they were) was kind enough to invite you somewhere, the nicest thing was to go if at all possible. And I wouldn't dream of embarrassing a friend (or actually anyone who'd invited me) by ordering some token amount of food. There's always something like a grilled cheese on the menu. for people with manners did you read the post about the woman possibly cancelling their superbowl party because the ex wife gave DH and step daughter super bowl tickets? I thought that was bad manners for him to go and ditch his own party. I don't think the superbowl is like going to the moon type of experience of a lifetime and if he was a fanatic he can always plan and buy tickets to the next one. [ Reply | More
