I am 40 and lost my grandmother at 16. I just spent a half hour hysterically crying because I suddenly missed her so much. I feel like I forget about her sometimes. We were very close and I was very attached to her. Anyone ever feel this way? (we have no children by the way).

OP: Also, I am very close to another relative who is 85. She is the closest thing to my grandmother and she is not doing too well. I'm afraid that once she's gone, there will be no one who will understand. I am terrified of losing her too. I can't explain it. I can't go to my parents with stuff like this.

I can't relate. Maybe I have a heart of stone, but I don't remember crying "hysterically" when my mother or father died. Sadness, sobbing, weeping, but far from hysterical. And 24 years on? No possible way. Are you pregnant?
