i used to be. but was very shy too, so it would be uncomfortable. i always thought people were looking at me in a critical way (i was always very aware of people looking at me and self-conscious because of it) till I overheard some family members talk about walking down the street with me and feeling like they were with a movie star. Ex successful model here. I personally found it to be scary at times. Pervy people always licking their chops. I was always afraid someone was going to hurt me so I wore baggy sweats and no makeup. It was a lot of pressure, though. I felt like everyone was always trying to sleep with me. My professors in college, my bosses, anyone older than I was. I remember even meeting a female publisher at an open conference. She called later to ask me out for drinks and a date. At the time I was married and just learned I was pregnant. Now I am average because I am overweight and don't take care of myself. When I need to look top notch for DH I drop the weight, put on makeup and nice clothes and the men stare but more at my body than anything. After kids my body filled out to just the right curves. [ Reply | More

Eh. Nothing lasts forever, now I am busy with career and kids, let the young girls have their turn. It was fun while it lasted but I do like being able to go buy groceries or go for a jog without being gawped and leered at....felt on display at all times in my 20s, but when I sees pics of myself at that age I stare too. It's only sad if you somehow thought you would be young forever and have nothing else you love about yourself. "head turning beautiful" is really in the way you carry yourself. I've always been pretty and when I'm in shape and dressed well I'm really quite stunning. My husband says I am. I think I used to be, not anymore. It opens more doors for you but you lag in personal development, tenacity due to the shortcuts that appear before you. Everyday, you get lots of stares. Your own ego strength determines if you get paranoid and think "oh the women are threatened dont like me" or people's eye is just drawn and they cant help it.
