Why are we so sure the nanny was at fault? From reading around online what I mostly deduced was that there was not consistent information being reported yet. These articles can't even get the kids ages right, and half were reporting that the nanny had been with them a few weeks when she's in fact been with them for years. I think we should wait for the police to make the situation more clear here. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Even if the reporters have the kids ages wrong, the length of employment wrong, the address wrong, the date and time wrong...what would make this NOT the nanny's fault? Please enlighten me... [ Reply | More ]

Uh…if someone else killed them and tried to kill her? The only reason this rumor is going around about the nanny is because of the mother being heard screaming "she slit her throat!" The cops have NOT said that the wounds appeared to be self inflicted, nor have they said she's a suspect. Only a person of interest to be interviewed. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Are you really this dense? My point was that it seems EXTREMELY possible that someone else came in and killed all three of them. [ Reply | More ]

I'm not. I'm making the observation that the media is wildly suggesting the nanny is responsible for this as fact, when in fact the police have not said it was the nanny. [ Reply | More ]

np To me it looks like OP is pointing out something important and relevant. How is this stirring the pot? She's saying let's take a step back and recognize that most of the "details" published so far are pure speculation. [ Reply | More ]

This was one of the most reasonable posts on the topic. The nanny has not been arrested and is already being headlined as the known murderer. [ Reply | More ]

+1 The facts as being presented in the media vary greatly from one site to the next. The nanny being the killer is a major conclusion jump that has been made by the press. [ Reply | More ]

I thought the same thing when I read it. Also, there was an early report that said that the super screamed _with_ the mother when she discovered the bodies? And why was the apartment dark? [ Reply | More ]

The police easily could have checked the knife, doorknobs, etc for the nanny's fingerprints in like 5 seconds. They've already arrested her so there must be a least some good evidence. [ Reply | More ]

It's in headlines. But the facts of article state only that her wounds may have been self inflicted, and that she's considered a person of interest. Which of course she is. No arrest has taken place. Only the media is using this term. [ Reply | More ]

How would fingerprints on knives and door knobs in the home she worked in prove anything? And she has not been arrested. She's in the hospital, and has not even been officially declared a suspect [ Reply | More ]

Because if you read the articles there is no point where the cops state she has been arrested. She is in the hospital under watch untilshe can be interviewed. You can also look up the arrest recordsfrom yesterday and today. [ Reply | More ]

Np. Hadn't thought of that. Just looked. No arrest record. And now that i look at the articles it's true that no one has actually said she was arrested except the media headlines themselves [ Reply | More ]

I suspect that nothing was stolen and apartment was locked and most evidence such as the way woumb in the nanny was inflicted must point to murder suicide. [ Reply | More ]

There was a big story in NJ several years ago - mom and several DC died in a fire. Everyone thought it was the oldest son - there was an instant flood of stories about his mental problems, interviews with neighbors, etc., etc. The poor dead kid was trashed completely. Then a couple days later it comes out that the fire was set by the mom. [ Reply | More ]

The closest they have come to suggesting her guilt is to say her wounds appeared to be self inflicted. This was said by a cop at the scene. Before Amy major medical or forensic eval. She has not been arrested. She is in the hospital under guard because of course she is a person of interest. That's it. The media is throwingaround the word arrested when nothing of the sort has happened. [ Reply | More ]

The police are going to have to grab all of the surveillance footage to see if anyone entered the apartment with or behind the kids and nanny, dust the apartment and the murder weapon for prints, check the nanny and the mom's cell phone records, etc. But yeah, it was probably the nanny. I don't think "probably" is the word I'd use for 50 year old with no criminal record who had clearly been a loving nanny and close with the family for over a year. [ Reply | More ]
