I'm not the poster above - and I've seen sahp just reamed on this board. The threats that the dh will leave them (I work dh stays at home), the children won't respect the mothers choices and on and on. I don't judge other people's choices. I will say, I'm cool with mine. Not one minute (and I mean not one minute) did I ever worry about my child. I knew that at all times - dc was with a caring parent who would die for them. That feeling, that security is worth so much to me. And we really didn't "go out" - dh and I made time for each other in our home. Our marriage is strong without "date night" or weekends away.

we don't have family - as a baby - we just took the little one along (so portable) - with toddler - stayed home. School age - stayed home most of the time - trusted friend on occasion we needed one.

I was one of 4 kids...we loved our high school and college aged sitter...and my parents enjoyed their couple-life too. Same in my household. There is no way to protect our loved ones at all times from all things. So sorry about that.

Seriously?! This is an awful, awful tragedy, but SO rare! You might as well not let your child ever get in a car, as they are MUCH more likely to be killed in a car accident. While this obviously hits everyone here close to home - because it could have happened to anyone - does not mean it is likely to happen.
