Please help-- my 3.5 month old won't take a bottle! I've tried everything: DH gives it to her, different positions, when she's in a good mood, etc. She screams like I've never heard before! I'm so worried I missed the window earlier-- and I have to travel next week. Please tell me what I'm missing! Signed, stressed out mom. Thank you!! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'm not a mom yet (8-10 weeks to go) but I was talking with our OB and he mentioned to me re:pacifiers that there are a number of different sizes- could that be true for nipples for bottles? Are there different bottles/nipples you could try? Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

We had the same problem. Fortunately, DS took the bottle the day I went back to work, though he fought it for the 3 weeks before I went back. It was very stressful. Have you tried taking the shirt you sleep in and having whoever is feeding her drape it over their shoulders? Your scent will be helpful. Also, you have to leave the house. Your baby will sense your presence and hold out. She'll get it. [ Reply | More ]

^^^I have a friend at work whose baby never took the bottle. He would bring his baby to his wife 2-3 times a day for feedings. I would not recommend this. [ Reply | More ]

How long do you wait before giving in and giving her breast? [ Reply | More ]

I'm sure I give in and put her back on the breast too quickly. I'm by myself during the days and can't stand to see her get so worked up; she turns purple! DH tries to at night and in the morning. I will try leaving the apartment when he does it tonight. Ugh. This is hard. [ Reply | More ]

np: You HAVE to leave the apartment or it will not work. The only bottle my baby would take were the Adiri (http://www.amazon.com/Adiri-Natural-Nurser-Ultimate-Bottle/dp/tags-on-product/B0018BY2EU). They are more "breast-like" than others. [ Reply | More ]

Mine was the same way. Finally took it the night before I went back to work (phew!). Try different bottles (drop ins, and different brands), different nipples (wide, slow flow) and different positions. You can also try cup feeding - that was out next step. [ Reply | More ]

Leave the house. She knows you're there -even if you're hiding in another room. [ Reply | More ]

Try out different bottles and nipples and you'll find one that she takes to. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]

I am having the same problem and it is a nightmare. He screams like he is being tortured and won't eat. I have to go back to work soon and am panicked. I will try leaving the house today but I have already tried all the different nipples and it doesn't really seem to matter. [ Reply | More ]
