I don't understand the Trinity story. the link talks about trustees resigning in 2008. so what does this have to do with Asst. HOS resigning recently, if even true. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I haven't been able to get all the details and keep hoping someone will repost a summary, but from what little I have been able to piece together, it sounds like what happened in '08, while known among the trustees at the time, is just coming out publicly now. Anyone know the scoop??? [ Reply | More ]

I can't believe that, if this is true it is so crazy outrageous. Does anyone know her? She is certainly open about it and ready for battle. Follow the link. Insane. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, I know her. Not a Trinity parent. SK has serious (documented) mental health issues. I fear for her children. [ Reply | More ]

Easy killer. I have no horse in this race and don't know the intricate details of this story, but this seems like an extreme statement. A comment like this certainly doesn't help trinity's case. [ Reply | More ]

i don't believe she isn't a parent, she doesn't seem that stupid, plus a professional. she can't be lying about that. [ Reply | More ]

I think the poster meant that she (the poster) is not a Trinity parent, not that SK is not a Trinity parent (or former T parent). [ Reply | More ]

Poster here. I am not a Trinity parent. Knew SK from her DC's nursery school. SK is or was a Trinity parent. Yes, strong statement, sadly I stand by it. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, you posted on one of the threads that was deleted and claimed she was a PITA parent who had been reprimanded by the head of your preschool. And I wondered how that could be when known PITA parents don't get their kids into Trinity, which is probably the hardest school to get into. You couldn't really explain that, although someone else claimed Trinity would take anyone who was rich enough even if they were PITA's. Is that the case? [ Reply | More ]

^^^and, I have no idea who SK is, but I am suspicious of anyone here who anonymously accuses another person of having "serious mental health issues". This is almost the cliche response for any whistleblower, and says nothing about whether the claims are true or not. Shame on you. [ Reply | More ]

I think there are some lies in that story. Trustees are not paid. Trustees are not overseen by the Head of School, the HOS reports to the Trustees, so the fact that the HOS died suddenly should not matter in how the Board is run. Trustees are most often strong financial supporters of the institution and NOT shady people or those in dire straits. Trustees are nominated by the Committe on Trustees and then voted on by the Board. The Trinity Endowment as per their own website stands at $40.4 million, rather than the story which stated it declined from over $100M to $70M. [ Reply | More ]

there are def. half truths. she says that the executive committee granted itself a huge pay increase, yet if you dig through the tax returns, that is clearly not the case. she says the trustees pay themselves and THAT is not the case, again based on the returns. look, if the school filed false returns, then you have a problem. but she implies that the returns blatantly show evidence of misconduct. on the face of it, they do not. signed, finance mom, no kids at trinity, but curious about all forms of fiancial misconduct [ Reply | More ]

np: We know two people on the Trinity board, both are very wealthy and give a ton of money to Trinity (and have for decades), not the other way around. [ Reply | More ]

I think there were allegations that Trustees got free tuition. That would be pay that might not show up in the 990 (but should). [ Reply | More ]

finance mom here. ita, it should have shown up as a benefit. if it didnt, that would be bad. in the original posts here, though, i sort of got that she was pointing at the tax forms like a smoking gun. i didnt see a smoking gun. but maybe there is something like that going on. we may never know... If you look up current board members, they are all rather wealthy, and some have not had kids at the school for a long time (if ever). So I really doubt they would want or need free tuition, it is pocket change to them. [ Reply | More ]

oh, i'm with you. all of these allegations seem suspect, imo. especially since some have already been disproven (like the voted pay raise) [ Reply | More ]

I am a parent, and many of us think this could be true because there really were a couple of very very senior trustees with multiple children at the school, and these trustees were NOT wealthy people, but somehow managed to keep the kids at the school for several years. I don't want to out myself because my child is in the upper school and we want to graduate and get past this. [ Reply | More ]

If this is true -- this is a major problem. You've got problems with undeclared income paid to the Trustees that should have appeared on a 1099. If the Trustees in turn approved raises for management, this smacks of a quid pro quo, and a clear breach of fiduciary duty. Frankly, if this allegation is true, it is an honest services fraud (post US v. Black), and is a federal crime. If the compensation was not disclosed by management to the Auditor, it is also probably a tax conspiracy to cause the school to file a false 990. This is a major problem if true. [ Reply | More ]

Somebody should make an anonymous report to the State AG charities bureau. They would be all over this sort of stuff. [ Reply | More ]

np: but those very very senior trustees who have multiple children at the school have presumably all been there for years. maybe grandparents pay tuition. i have a friend w a wealthy grandmother that paid all his tuition for private school and college, but refused to help his mom after her divorce. so they lived in a 1 BR apt in a so-so neighborhood and he was a latchkey kid starting in like 3rd grade. you NEVER know what's going on.
