It's so great that we moved up here. LOVE it. Feels like what the Upper West Side felt like 20 years ago -- loaded with teachers, artists, writers, musicians, and ethnicities.

No; either spelling is correct. ps173 has long been a truly sad place for the many lovely, bright children stuck in that zone. I hope enthusiastic people like you can make a difference. I'm a Heights native and have been inside that building plenty; the last time was in April. I love the Heights and would never send my child to 173. GL.

geesh, saying the school her kid attends is scary is a little harsh! maybe you might be a little more diplomatic or just keep your opinions to yourself.

Sadly, it's becoome too yuppified. The people who made West Village the West Village have been priced out and have either moved Uptown or to Brooklyn.

I'm hurt! Do you realize how many math/finance people are extremely gifted at music and the other arts, and also contribute money up the wall so support the arts?

It's a big borough. Do you hang out at the baths in Brighton much? Sling kielbasa in Greenpoint? Sun yourself on the treeless sidewalks of Brownsville? Be more specific!

np: if it were not for the school I would say South Slope/Gowanus area of Brooklyn hands down. Affordable homes (at least for NYC), great neighbors, close to the park, easy access to the other great areas of Brooklyn, and an easy commute to downtown Manhattan.
