Friend just told me "monkey bars" (as in playground equip) is not PC to say, worse it is RACIST?!?! Can you believe that?

I think it is just one of those things where an okay term is also used a a pejorative, and it's too bad, but that's the way it goes. You wouldn't want to say look at those kids on the monkey bars and then realize there were AA kids there. I know there other terms like that, but I can't think of one right now, too tired.

My kid looks like a little monkey to me (actually rather like Curious George) and I love it and tell him so. But I stop myself from saying it to any other kids, esp since many in our area aren't white (ds included, ironically).
