    • just talk to her/him. My ds didn't start talking until he was 2. As long as your dc is making noises, I wouldn't worry at this point.

    • If you are home all day - narrate everything you do. Good morning, lets wake up. Ok, let's go in the kitchen and get some breakfast. Here's the bowl, here's the spoon. You will feel stupid, and don't do this infront of people you don't know, but at home talk the entire time.

    • Read to her and get some of those "Baby's First Words" books -- it might help her to see the pictures and hear you say the words simultaneously. Also, if you have an iphone, there is an app that is like a Baby's First Words book. It's called iTot cards, I believe. If nothing else, it helps them get through subway trips, long lines, restaurant meals, etc.

    • I would call EI now. It may take a while for them to find someone to do an eval and then months to get services started. No words at 15mos is meaningful. Not saying the end of the world, but I would get things started. I also would have hearning tested. Signed BTDT mom.

      • ^^^Ei sends a speech therapist to work with child. The therapy looks like play, but would be different based on nature of speech delay.

    • Please call EI now, do NOT wait. Most peds are really ill informed about developmental stuff. If your dd is fine, EI will tell you so; but 15mo is a great time to call. BTDT.

    • Does she understand various words? Does she babble with inflection and different sounds? If so, I wouldn't be concerned yet. My DS is 16 months and he has only a few words that he doesn't say clearly. He understands a lot and can follow basic instructions. I'm really not worried based on this.
