[-]can bacterial vaginosis make you pee CONSTANTLY? not UTI - got tested
2 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]
[-]I have been peeing a lot last 2 months - on and off. Also been battling re-occuring bouts of bacterial vaginosis. I went to the urologist today and don't have UTI. he thinks I have an overactive bladder. No I am scared and upset. I know it is not serious but that sucks. I am hoping that this problem is related to the vaginal infection but I just don't know. And why do I keep getting the bacterial infection if I have it again. Plus I suffer from anxiety and this peeing more frequently occurs even more when I am anxious. TIA
4 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]This is UB, so I thought I'd try here. Anyone else's toddler girl get awfully semlly "down there" since potty-training? I asked one pediatrician, and they said this is normal, as pee can get caught.. I plan to ask her primary pediatrician at 4 yo checkup. Anyone else surprised at the odor? Sorry in advance..pretty gross, I know.
[ Reply | Options ]DD is 2 and just training. It took me about an hour the other day to figure out what the smell I was smelling was (assumed it was me since i'm 8 mos preg and pee myself all day long...). Finally caught a whif of her pullup as I was putting her on the potty and it was definitely her. I am now diligently using wipes instead of just toilet paper when she goes to keep her as clean as if I was changing her diaper.

[-]Just did the WSMS tour. Not impressed with the head of school at all. Loved the facilities and the teachers we met though. Any thoughts?
4 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]We were there too. Some teachers seemed out of it to me, but some seemed fabulous. So many different opinions on UB about this school -- very confusing.
[ Reply | Options ]-
dc went there. you won't have to do much with the head until exmissions time. and she runs the school well. the teachers range from really good to absolutely amazing, and since there are three teachers in each class, they make sure at least one is a superstar. i wasn't sure i liked it going in, and i cried the day we left.

[-]4 YO DS is getting girls tele. #'s at preschool. Teacher brought it to DH's attention this morning. She looked part-concerned, part informative. He has a lot of chicky's who follow him. Do I say anything to the Teacher? Do I say anything to DS? I want to reasonable and not be the nutty Mom, considering the age. But, I don't want him doing this at school.

You don't think I should say something low-key to him, such as thats not appropriate for school. If he wants a friend over, Mommy will get in touch w/ their Mom....
[ Reply | Options ]-
he's there to have play, learn, explore and socialize...but there is appropriate behavior for school. its nots like he's in time out or not thriving in the most important areas. Just want to make sure, I'm not missing something here. I'm not overreacting, just want some feedback.

That's really weird. Where is he learning this from? Does he use the phone? Is he watching inappropriate movies or tv shows? Or maybe is he learning this from dad when they go to the park or the grocery store? Hmmm...
[ Reply | Options ]Yes, I hope OP is not exposing an impressionable 4-year old to people using phones. And I pray that she is not giving away the secret that, to reach a particular person, you must enter into the telephone the correct string of numbers. Something like that could leave a long term scar.

Good lord!!! Spoke to the Teacher, and DH totally overreacted and didn't clarify with her more. Since, the real scoop, was that a girl innocently asked him where he lives and she just offered her tele. #. It sounded like DS was asking for it, but they were just having simple 4 yo chit-chat. No biggie!

[-]What is UWS 90s like? Been looking for a 3BR apt for a few months (to buy) and dont want to live in UES. Budget is $2mil. Beginning to sense that the only area in UWS that we can afford is in the 90s and 100s. Is that considered less desirable than the 70s/80s hence the price differential? We are a family with young kids. Thanks.
23 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]The 90s and 100s really vary by Avenue. Many parts of the 90s and 100s are just as nice as the 70s and 80s, but the zoned public schools are mostly not good, and also it takes longer to get to midtown or downtown for work, obviously.
[ Reply | Options ]^^That said, on the UWS you are not limited to your zoned public school if your child qualifies for G&T (which is not that hard), and many parts of the 90s and 100s are beautiful. In some ways it's better than the 70s and 80s because it's more neighborhoody.
[ Reply | Options ]Looking at a place on WEA and 90s. which avenues are more desirable in the 90s? i am really resisting moving to the 100s.

you shoudl also eb able to find a 3BR in the 70's/80"s if you have $2mm to spend. without a doubt.

one for starters, if you go to street easy every day you'll find them. Not tons that meet fyour sf req's but they are definitely out there- especially lower 90's- below 96th street and west of broadway is a fabulous area !

[ Reply | Options ]west of broadway is not nice up here. trust me. She's looking for 200 ft2, which will run $2MM, even in the 90s.

I don't usually go up there but went to check out the new Michael's today. They're really trying to develop the area around 96-100 on Columbus. So right now you have an odd mix of low rent mom and pops stores and new big box stores, Starbucks, Whole Foods, lots of schools and activities for little kids. The question for me is if the economy gets worse before it gets better will this area gather the momentum needed to raise it to the level of the 70s and 80s.

Wait, all this food? Or like, pick ONE main ONE app, etc? B/c this is a lot of food.
[ Reply | Options ]What is a French Roast? And chimichurri seems out of place with everything else. And chicken wellingtons--also not familiar--assuming like little beef wellingtons? If you're making yourself, sounds like a lot of effort.
[ Reply | Options ]it's just a cut of meat-- like a california roast. i know the chimi sounds out of place-- that's what i was worried about-- any suggestions for a great boneless chicken breast recipe. i normally would do turkey but dont want to since it's thanksgiving next week. the weelingtons or yummy and most of the steps can be done in advance

Please advise. Possible relocation from downtown NYC. Looking to spend 1 to 2.5 M for a home in Palm Beach County. Prefer an upscale area with unique, historic (restored) single family homes versus condos or brand new construction Mc Mansions. Looking for good schools, restaurants, shopping, beach club. Love Palm Beach but worry it is too old for young families? Also, any info on St. Andrews or Pine Crest or other private school in the area?

[-]Does anyone feel generous to explain what are all these tests / what for? OLSAT, ERB, the one that goes to Hunter and elsewhere? I have a two year old, and I don't know where to find the complete list of the NYC child testing nightmare... Thank you!
4 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]ERB: test for private schools; OLSAT: one of two tests used by the NYC DOE for placement into G&T programs; SB: test for Hunter admission.
[ Reply | Options ]thanks - and pushing my luck further... all psd's would know where and when to take these, right? are there any others? thank you!!
[ Reply | Options ]np: many preschools offer the ERB on site, but otherwise you can google ERB and you can find out where the testing site is. Hunter Elementary's website has the information on Hunter admission and you cannot sign up for the SB until you have applied there. Info on OLSAT is on DOE website, but generally, you need to register in October/early November.

[-]pumping moms- i have an almost 4 mo and am pumping 3x a day. when can i drop down to 2x and which pumping session do i drop?
3 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]i've always pumped at the same time that i'd feed the baby (pumped b/c wohm), so i think you should only drop the feeding when the baby drops the feeding. for example, if the baby used to eat at 9, 12, 3 during the day but starts only feeding at 10 then 2, then you can drop a pumping session.

[-]Trying to decide whether to deliver 2nd baby at SLR birthing center or reg labor and delivery. Had my first naturally at SLR labor and delivery. A little freaked about going home in 12 hours ... Can anyone share experience? Thx
2 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]I was planning on having my 4th at the birthing center but it was full when I went into labor--so was SLR's L&D but that's a whole other story... at the birthing center they let you stay for 18 hours, and I ended up leaving about 16 hours after I gave birth. I knew I'd be more comfortable at home. If you have an easy/natural delivery it shouldn't be a problem. I was a little tired/sore walking from the taxi to my apt but it wasn't terrible and I much preferred being in my own bed & bathroom! The main thing imo though is you want to stay so your baby can have the PKU test 12-24 hours after birth and you don't have to return for it.

[-]I have the most difficult toddler. Since birth, she cries very often. Tantrums are brutal. She is 20 months now, adn I have to let her cry it out about once a month/maybe week. Anyone with a very tough child? It breaks my heart, she is screaming her heart out in the other room, but she is just tired, and cannot find her "off" switch. Had a meltdown brushing ehr teeth, said she was tired, and is now screaming bloody murder in crib. Oy.
4 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]I know this is so difficult to do, but try and ignore the tantrums and the screaming as much as possible. My son used to melt down into screaming, throwing, tearing stuff off the walls type of tantrums several times a day, from the time he was 2 until he was 4. He is almost like a different child now. Much better. Hang in there, you have my empathy!
[ Reply | Options ]My twins are like this. They cry so much and are very difficult to soothe. They seem to cry even more when I am in the room. I sometimes feel that it is partly because my attentions are spread too thin between them and their big brother. But I also think it is personality (they are identical so not surprising that they have similar dispositions). My oldest was always such an easy, happy baby. It is so difficult not to compare. But of course I love them to death and am encouraged by stuff like the post from OR. I really am hopeful they will grow out of it.

How can I tell the difference between a braxton-hicks contraction and a real contraction. I am 39 weeks, have been feeling sharp quick pains every 20 minutes but they are not that long, maybe 10-15 seconds. It's only been an hour since this started so I know I have to wait it out. Just wondering....

[-]How did you tell your families that you were expecting? My husband and I want to tell our families in person when we see them over the Christmas holidays, but we haven't come up with a great idea HOW to tell them yet. Both sets of parents assumed we were never going to have a child, so this will be a real surprise. Thanks for all suggestions.
18 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]Decide you want a family picture while everyone is there. Once everyone is together, have your husband be the one taken the picture, say by the way (your name) is pregnant and capture everyone's reaction. This is the best way because you literally get a picture of that moment to keep forever.
[ Reply | Options ]My friends gave their parents a children's book with a card that said "for you to read to your granddaughter"
[ Reply | Options ]I gave my parents a picture of the sonogram and said guess who this is. It took them a few minutes and they didn't believe it until they saw my name printed on the sonogram.
[ Reply | Options ]-
Ask everyone to get together for a group picture and instead of "cheese" say "1-2-3 we're having a baby" then you can capture the looks on their faces for your album.

[-]Does the Valco Tri Mode Twin take two infant carseats and a toddler seat? (for newborn twins and toddler)?
3 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]i have the valco single and it takes either the toddler seat or the carseat but not both.
[ Reply | Options ]I dont think it would, have never tried though. Off topic, I would not recomend this stroller. It is so big and heavy I never use it, much easier to use a babycarrier and a single stroller with a toddler board or a lightweight twin stroller and a carrier. This is just my experience but I always use my bug with the toddlerboard and one baby in the babyhawk.
