[-]I am 30 weeks pregnant. I think i may have h1n1 (got vaccination on past monday, but thinks it takes a little while to kick in). I called ob and got doctor on call (not my ob), who immediately suggested Tamiflu. He did not ask a lot of questions, but recommended Tamiflu without any hesitation. any thoughts???

friends in the uk had to take it. apparently it only shortens the flu by 1 day. also, the side effects are pretty severe (diarrhea and vomiting).
[ Reply | Options ]fwiw - i took tamiflu twice when pregnant the second time (h1n1 not even on the horizon as we knew it) at the recommendation of a high risk ob (first child was a micro preemie). dc was born at 41 weeks, almost 10 pounds and perfect 10 on apgar. i think the point right now is to keep you as far from the brink of h1n1 hell as possible. good luck and i hope you feel better soon.

why wouldn't they be OK? i hadn't heard anything about (non-poisonous) mushrooms being bad!
[ Reply | Options ]Didn't think anything of it but then read on a morel mushroom recipe site that some lady was buying some from a farm stand and the farmer told her she shouldn't eat them while pregnant. Said she looked it up (didn't say where) and found that to be true. But I can't find any sources saying they're not safe during pregnancy, so I didn't know if I was just missing something or if her information was bad...

[-]anyone ttc at cornell with injectable iui,. and had to get iui twice that week? my dr said i need to, any info welcome
10 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]are they going to do it at 24 hrs and 48 hrs after the trigger? I have heard of this but my dr said it doesn't really up your chance to do two IUIs rather than one at 36 hours. I am not at cornell and am not familiar with their process.
[ Reply | Options ]im getting trigger shot tomorrow, doing one iui tomorrow, cause they said my body will be ovulating on its own, and one on tues
[ Reply | Options ]that sounds really interesting to me. So you had the LH surge already? How many follicles did you have? What size were they? I have never heard of that, two different ovulation days...I thought if you had the surge or the trigger that all follicles went at that time, even if they were too small.
[ Reply | Options ]i had one that was 18, 15, 14, 16, 13.5, get my follistim shot tonight at 10, ovidrel at 7 tomorrow, iui tomorrow around 10, then another on tues.
[ Reply | Options ]if you are still doing follistim I don't think you are ovulating tomorrow. I don't think you will ovulate until 36 hours after ovidrel, according to my dr. I do the follistim until I get follicles to measure 18-22, then I do hcg trigger (novarel or ovidrel) and 36 hrs later ovulate. have you continuously been doing the follistim?

Hi, My nanny has been with my family for 3 years now , she was referred to me by a close family friend but now we're moving and I want to help her place with a new family. Does anyone have any suggestions. She is so awesome we could not have asked for a better nanny and I would really like to help her connect with the right family. She started with me 2 weeks before I delivered and is experienced with newborns right thru school aged children. She's also worked with twins in the past. She has awesome communication and is trained with CPR. She prepares food for the baby from scratch, does babies laundry and shopping and cleaning of all areas where the baby is. Arranges great playdates. Does lots of reading and singing and interacting with my ...

[-]I've been lightly spotting dark brown with occasional red blood on and off for 9 days with a positive pregnancy test taken on Wednesday...have to wait until Monday for blood test to make sure my #s are going up. I'm guessing since there's some red blood I might be on my way to a miscarriage. Anyone have a similar story? So worried right now and hate the wait.

Requested a transfer at work, but just found out I am 8 weeks pregnant, a surprise. Our DD is only 1 - we're really excited, but completely freaked out. 2 under 2? And how do I explain this at work...um, cancel that transfer request....I think I will just sit tight until I go on leave?

[-]How much earlier did you show with #2? Did you end up much bigger or did it all even out towards the end?
5 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]With #1 I was just barely showing at 20 weeks. I had to do the rubber band thing around the button on my jeans, but I remember wearing my regular jeans to my 21 week ultrasound. For my second I started showing around 14 weeks and by 16 weeks couldn't really wear most of my regular pants anymore.

[-]I am 35 weeks pregnant and all of a sudden have terrible hemmorhoids. Nevere had them in alst rpegnancy (had a c-section). What can I do to make them go away? I actually ahve not eben terrible constipated, so it must be from the weight of the uterus and other factors? I've tried cold compresses, anything else? Am I doomed to have these for the rest of the pregnancy? trying for a VBAC and read if these get too big I might not be able to have a vaginal birth? And just totally grossed out by them as well....

kegel! you may have to do a lot per day to see results...a few hundred at least. try the type where you gradually contract and release too.
[ Reply | Options ]OP- thanks! You know I was doing these a lot more in my last pregnancy, maybe that's why I didn't have this issue! Also going to try the sitz bath, continue with cold compresses, adn add prep H pads and just try to lay on my side versus sit when I'm at home- ugh, these are awful! Kept me awake one night A LOT!

6 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]^^don't live by me and probably never will). ALso, for what it;'s worth, the names are fairly classic and not unique in any way. Would you have any hesitancy in using one? One of the friends' kids is 6 yo and the other is 15 months. Thanks-
[ Reply | Options ]use the one you like without any hesitation. Your friend will be flattered that you used the same name she did. Few people in the universe have a name that nobody else is using

[-]Poll: Preference of Mt.Sinai, NYU, or Lenox Hill for delivery.
15 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]I've only delivered at Mt. Sinai but I had a great experience. Switched OBs to deliver there rather than NYU
[ Reply | Options ]-
loved delivery at NYU, primarily because of my obgyn. HATED, repeat HATED, post-partum recovery there. asshole nurses who left mid-exam to pick up their chinese food delivery. overflow from maternity wing stuck on other wing with general surgeries - bad scene. that being said, i'm going to deliver there again with #2 this spring. love my obgyn and will just mentally (or physically) give the finger to the nursing staff who piss me off.
[ Reply | Options ]who is your doc at NYU that you love so much!? i am having SUCH a hard time picking a doctor and a hospital. there are just so many choose from.
[ Reply | Options ]-
ita. My post-partum nurse at NYU was very rough with me wheeling my stretcher on the elevator after my C. But also, the nurses during delivery sucked, too. While we were supposed to be counting breaths during a contraction they were playing the "do you know (this person)?" game with each other. I am not a person who likes conflict, but I finally said, "Really. Who cares who you know. I'm trying to have a baby here?"
[ Reply | Options ]
I've delivered 2 at Mt. Sinai and had fabulous experiences both times. But I'm not sure how great it would be if you are dedicated to having a natural child birth.

[-]37weeks and woke up so grumpy this morning. PG w/#2 and forcing toddler to watch tv all morning while I vegg. Was up all night convinced going into labor and thinking water was breaking. Have 2.5 hours till nap. Could bring him to mall but risk him falling asleep in car on way home and screwing whole nap. Feeling vulnerable and selfish now and just like a big baby. ugh.
