Do you 'enjoy' spending time with your kids?
- Yes, most of the time we really have fun together
- Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's really dull and aggravating
- Honestly most of the time it's not fun at all, but it's not supposed to be fun
- I really don't enjoy it at all, and wish I could spend less time with them

Was there ever a doubt about this? You didn't think Newt actually had a shot, did you?

And Romney is such a prize? Republicans should be so ashamed of themselves, if this is the best they could do.

Romney looked really good, Newt lost me at the 0% capital gains tax he was espousing on the last debate - I am not against wealthy people - but come on we need to stop with the theories and balance our budget with actual taxes, actual cuts and a real plan to regain global competitiveness, and as an aside if we can stop hurling half a million dollar missles into the dessert that would be great.
[ Reply | More ]There are too many debates. The only reason to tune in now is to see gaffs and bad performances. This is not a primary, it's more like a reality show, and that means only that the American people lose in the end.
[ Reply | More ]We care. If by some chance a GOPer is elected, he will be our president too. Romney seems like an old-fashioned Rockefeller Republican at heart, once he can stop pandering to his lunatic "base." I'd far rather have him for president than that parade of horribles against whom he's been running. Sidebar: why are there never any socially liberal / fiscally conservative candidates? I will never vote Republican until their social platform becomes less horrifying.
[ Reply | More ]I'd rather have Romney for president, but I'd rather have Gingrich as the nominee, because he will lose.
[ Reply | More ]Good question. It baffles me how social conservatism is even a possibility. In most other developed countries (Canada, Europe), when you say conservative, it's just assumed you're a fiscal conservative. Social conservatism is completely passe and, frankly, absurd for the most part.
[ Reply | More ]But you can't get a social conservative on your side if you're incredibly rich and will govern as a strict fiscal conservative first and foremost. When you lump fiscal and social conservatives together, as Conservatives do, you can get poor people to vote against their economic interests as long as you pay them lip service for their social concerns.

I care -- I just don't want to have to see Newt in the news anymore -- so this is very good.
