Do you 'enjoy' spending time with your kids?
- Yes, most of the time we really have fun together
- Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's really dull and aggravating
- Honestly most of the time it's not fun at all, but it's not supposed to be fun
- I really don't enjoy it at all, and wish I could spend less time with them

I just found out my husband has an office wife. He insists that they are just friends, and that he has no feelings for her. He insists she has no feelings for him. I explained that he’ ...

Oh my, how are any of our dcs ever going to get into the few spaces at each school. I swear my dc has such a strong application at our fc, except for a famous or billionaire parent, it hits every point soundly, plus. If my dc doesn't get in, and that is likely, who does? Luck be a lady till dc gets in.

I do not mean my dc is better than other. I mean my dc's application is better than most, 99 ERB, top preschool who likes dc a lot, strong board support at fc, dc does very well with admissions people, dc plays an instrument well, parent's have interesting jobs and some diversity, but there are still enough dc's that have better applications that getting in to any of the schools we want to dc to be at is a long shot. I have said this before because I am anxious, not to put anyone down. There is a difference between have a strong application and being better than other people.
[ Reply | More ]I posted above, "I do not mean my dc...". I am really worried now, this is not a back-handed way to show off. Talked to a friend who works at a school. I think we may be in a less good position than I thought, that is we are shooting for top schools and there is a bigger chance than I though of being shut out. We worked very hard on these applications, cultivating recommendations over the last few years, working to get into a top preschool, etc. I will be so disappointed if we get shut out. I know it is only kindergarten and there is a long road ahead, but we worked so hard on this.....it is like going to the Olympics and there is only a gold medal, no silver or bronze.

boy. 99x7. ignore the angry troll, i actually feel sorry for her. anyway, so what about your dcs's score?
[ Reply | More ]99x5. also a boy. Do you have a 3rd choice? DH thinks Speyer and HM are the only two schools worth $35K+.
[ Reply | More ]I am totally missing something in some of these posts. How do you know that your child is 99 x 5 or 7, rather than 3? I saw only three scores on the ERB that made up the SSS.

yea, I know.. it's pretty amazing though how a small and new school could have that much of an effect on people. I can understand the envy but the vile hate? that's just too bizzare, it can only mean one thing -- deep resentment by that anti-speyer poster. huge axe to grinding for sure.

Fake! Speyer-Spam-A-Lot! No one in their right mind would choose Speyer over those two TT schools!

Lots of Collegiate/Dalton picks. And its a tough year for boys so things should be interesting.
[ Reply | More ]It's always like that. A lot will get into Dalton, a very few will get into Collegiate and the vast majority of the ones who don't get either will get in somewhere else they really like (those two are the big crowd-pleasers and best in their category, so one of them is generally the top choice for many parents of boys, but #2-#5 on those people's lists will vary widely, from buckley to ecfs to riverdale to friends, depending on the family). -btdt twice

St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's, Spence, Speyer, Cathedral (but hoping for Hunter) as we don't have $$

Let's look at the logic. If Avenues is your first choice, you would have applied to early decision and you would have either gotten in or not. The ones that got in already have so the question is irrelevant and the ones who didn't already know and wouldn't call Avenues their first choice after being dinged. So why would they answer your post?

Ok, just for fun, I counted how many people chose each school. Here are counts for top 3 from this post: St Anne's 4, ethical 8, dalton 13, grace 7, collegiate 8, trinity 6, spence 3, Brearley 3, nightingale 2, Chapin 3, st lukes 3, Horace Mann 5, friends 6, avenues 2, Speyer 8, Marymount 1, hunter 3, packer 1, SHSH 1, Cathedral 1, Calhoun 1, Trevor 1, town 1, Riverdale 2, st Bernard's 2, st David's 1, UNIS 1, little red 1. No "top 3" votes for Allen Stevenson, CGPS, town & country, what else? No idea what this means, but seems interesting.
