Need advice. 3 y.o dd goes to bed fine, but will not stay in her bed. She wants to fall asleep on the floor. She doesn't call out to me, I just go check on her and she's sound asleep on the floor. SO I got out my 2 crib mattresses and put them on the floor with blankets, that was great for one night, now she even crawls off of them. I'm 22 weeks pg and she's over 30lbs. I can't lift her back to bed anymore. DH works nights. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't mind if she sleeps on the crib mattresses, I just don't want her sleeping on the floor all night.

    • Maybe she's hot and the floor is cold

      • OP: Could be, but the crib mattress is on the floor (and the floor has carpet); so would it be that much cooler 3 inches down?

    • I would buy her a Dora or Princess or Pottery Barn Kids sleeping bag and let her sleep there I think.

      • agreed...unless your home is infested, why do you care if she's on the floor...i know a 7 year old who sleeps on the floor in a sleeping bag next to his bed...it's just where he prefers to be

        • OP: I just don't think its that comfortable - I hate sleeping on the floor. No my home is not infested. Is this normal for kids to do this? I've never done it, no one I know has kids that do this.

          • who are you to say what's comfortable for her...i've slept outside/in a tent more than 100 nights in my life & love it...i've also slept in beds that leave me feeling stiff in the morning...if she's happy let her be

            • OP: That is not the norm. I've slept outside for way more than 100 nights - beds are better (on the whole).

      • OP: I have those too. I could put those in her room as well, so then she'd have her normal twin size bed, 2 crib mattresses and 2 sleeping bags on the floor? I don't know if there is enough room for all that :)...

    • my 3yo went through a phase of this. She'd take everything off her bed, and make a replica on the floor, soft toys and everything. I'd put her back onto bed, but gave up after a while and she stopped doing it.

      • How long did she do this? It's been about a month for me.

    • I would say just make sure the floor is vacummed. And keep an eye on her to see if her back is hurting throughout the day

    • I say leave a pillow and blanket down there for her and that's all you can do - if she is getting enough sleep I would not worry too much about it. My 4 yo slept on her floor a few nights then realized the bed was more comfortable.
