    • Clomid is not going to make much of a difference.

        • Doctors seem to feel like they need to offer a less invasive option first...

        • or: Maybe to give you a better shot with 2 or 3 follicles. FYI - a friend had an ectopic with IUI and blocked tube. Have you had a HSG? Clomid didn't do it for me. My luck (twins) came with ivf. I've also had friends put 1 embryo back and be successful

    • When would you be willing to consider ivf?

      • op: Not sure. We've been thinking about it for a while,,,Not totally comfortable with it so will likely try to go adoption route instead. If it were dc #1, we might feel differently.

        • Curious, why are you not okay with it, assuming you can retrieve your own eggs to use? Seems such the norm nowadays.

          • Have very mixed feelings about embryo disposal after all is said and done. Also, would probably only want to transfer one embryo to avoid risk of multiples, and we realize that it is a lot of time and $$ for the very slim chance that one embryo transfer provides.

            • I know what you mean. Would you consider donating to science? Can you work with a doctor that will do reduced rate for future transfers if the single embryo transfer does not take?

              • Honestly, I had never even considered those two options. Guess I still have a lot to learn about this process! Have you been through it?

                • No, but many friends who have, and after the octimum debacle, there is a lot of debate in the media about how much more sensible it is to try for one baby. I would imagine that if you write an email to several different RE practices, and say that this is your preference, and why, perhaps you could financially work something out. Perhaps you can store the embryos, implant one at a time, and they can give you a reduced rate for transfer. Any left over, you store for a few years, then donate if you really are not going to use them. GL.
