  • 8 wks pregnant (going to MD this week) and already huge! Second child. My friends thinks I'm having twins. Thoughts?

    • a lot of people who are already past their first pregnancy get very big right away and then it levels off a little bit.

    • Every pregnancy is different. Go see the Dr. and see if he has any concerns. Probably nothing - maybe you're retaining water or something?

    • i heard that with your second, a lot of times your belly muscles are weaker and gas will make you look really big. i'm pregnant with my second and i'm a lot bigger this time around too!

    • Totally normal. My OB told me that it's the "warmed up effect", meaning you're basically like a balloon that's already been blown up before - you'll expand much more quickly on #2, but will even out as time goes on. No worries. Same thing happened to me.

    • I do not believe your current size has anything to do with twins. You should have a first appt soon and they will know then. Carrying very big later can be a bad sign indicative of problems with db (polyhydramnios), but I doubt that's an a posible factor this early.

    • I had twins second time and didn't really look huge until the end. I think second pregnancies show sooner that's all. you'll know at the dr's.
