The bare-legged look is so over if you live anywhere with 4 seasons. Please ladies, put on some tights or pantyhose.

    • THANK YOU! My company just instituted a dress code that prohibits bare legs -- either male OR female. THANK GOD.

      • Mine too; I think it looks kind of skanky to have bare legs in the middle of winter.

        • Forget skanky. It makes you look like a total idiot if you have bare legs when it's this cold outside. You wouldn't go out with only a tanktop on, so why do this? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

            • If you feel confident pulling it off, go for it, I don't think people are talking about an inch of bare skin. I love my knee high boots, but the Stevie Nicks thing worries me, so I wear with dark solid or patterned pantyhose and a straight skirt cut an inch or two above the knee.

      • the worst is open toed shoes in the colder months with a red toenail peeking through; I'm not partial to that look any time of year, but definitely should be confined to business casual offices in summer months

    • I hate tights and pantyhose and don't plan on wearing tights all winter if I'm wearing dresses and why would anyone care? I think it hardly looks skanky for me to wear my slightly below the knee dress with my boots to work and then switch to flats while there. If it's really that cold I'll wear pants, but if not my calves will be fine. What's the big deal?

        • Great to hear your comment. I live in CA also, and I hate looking at women in short dresses that think their bare legs look just so hot. Tasteless and tacky looking. When the hell did this tacky look start and why ?

      • Actually, I live in CA and mostly I think the rule applies everywhere during the winter. The current style is to wear tights. I guess you don't have to but you also do not have to be stylish.

    • And knock off the hooker shoes in the office while you're at it. Unless you work at the Badda Bing, silver platform stilettos are not business appropriate.

    • Fashion-oblivious DH; So, this visceral disgust at bare legs has nothing to do with hygiene? Its just a matter of what's fashionable now (verses 10 years ago), and whether one is tanned and has great legs? That's funny.
