    • for right now, it might be. as long as you aren't going negative from the gas expenses, etc. it's better to have it on your resume than a big, blank period.

      • my career is such that I have like 8 years of consulting and this is a real job -- but it's quite high pressure -- long drive everyday -- they'll be wringing every cent out of me

        • doesn't sound like you've got any alternatives lined up so I second the thought that it's better to work in this economy than to sit at home.

      • Not just the gas expense. If you are paying everything you earn for a stranger to watch your baby, you may be better off staying at home.

    • Right now I would take whatever you can get, then when the economy improves you can look for something else. Trust me, these days you are lucky if you have a job, even a crappy one.

      • op: I know you're right -- just hard to take -- as a temp the salary was ok because it was temp

        • Can you set up own business as a consultant, and have them pay you as a freelance consultant? That way you can write off a lot.

    • how much will you pay in gas costs and nanny expenses and then decide if it's worth it. to me it doesn't sound worth it.

    • maybe offer to do longer days, but cut it to 3 days a week? Less commuting, almost same money, more time with dc.

    • you can still look for another job while you're at work, you'll be making money, and you won't have a gap on your resume. so keep the job. it's easier to find a job when you have one..
