Taking an unofficial poll: how many of you were told the size and weight of baby in utero (told you were having a heavy/big baby) and then had a baby who was smaller? What was the difference (if you remember)?
23 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]Follow-up Question: Why was the prediction made? Did your OB/mid-wife just guesstimate? Or did you have a late-term sonogram where they measured the baby?
[ Reply | Options ]Both my ob and the sonographer said my dbs were going to be 8-9 lbs. They were both over 10 lbs and I did not have gestational diabetes. It's pretty much a guessing game and the mom is usually the closest.
[ Reply | Options ]told the baby was around 7 1/2 pounds - week or so later induced -7 14oz - so right on the money bc the baby keeps gaining weight
[ Reply | Options ]With #1, I was told 8-8.5 lbs and he was born 9lbs, 3 oz. at 40 weeks; it turned out my OB didn't want to scare me and tell me she thought he would be over 9, possibly 10 lbs. With #2 my OB (different one) kept saying she was glad it was a scheduled C-section bc he was measuring over 8 lbs at 38 weeks (both on ultrasound and when she palpitated my abdomen) - he was born 9 lbs. 6 oz. at 39 weeks.
