  • I will say that although I am against gay marriage I do not 'hate' gay people or 'treat them badly'. Everybody sees things a different way based on how you were raised and what you believe. It has NOTHING to do with hate. It is a disagreement about what people feel is appropriate vs inappropriate. We will just have to learn to agree to disagree.

    • Being against gay marriage means you don't believe that certain people deserve the same rights as you. I'd call that a form of hate. You sound a lot like the racist who says "I have black friends." Go work on your beliefs, because you are wrong.

      • You can say they are wrong all you want but that means you are calling about 75% of other people wrong. The votes voted to stop gay marriage and it wasn't by a landslide. Obviously, I am not the only one who is wrong. Maybe you just don't want to admit that you might be the one who is 'wrong'.

        • You think being in the majority makes you right? There was a time when the majority believed that enslaving other human beings was right. You're not too bright, huh?

          • All I am saying is that the majority of people (who ALL have the same rights, different background, different morals) voted no to gay marriage. It is completely different than the whole race being enslaved.

            • NP: The MAJORITY of the South believed in slavery. That didn't make them right. I respect your beliefs but stop using this majority = right argument, it's stupid. Looking back on history, the majority believed in plenty of stupid-ass things.

              • What's funny is she used that BS argument. Got her ass handed to her, then made it again. The fact is, those who are wrong always make that argument and are often too stupid to see why it's a moronic, simplistic, juvenile argument. I doubt she's capable of understanding.

            • And the majority of people back in the '60s were perfectly fine with blacks not being able to marry whites, blacks not being able to patronize certain establishments, and blacks not being able to use the "nice" restrooms. Perhaps since the majority of Americans didn't agree with it, we should repeal the Civil Rights Act ...

              • ITTTA! Let's put the Civil Rights Act to a referendum on the ballot! I'd love to see what happens when it's repealed!

                • LOL!!!! And let's start having the Supreme Court base all its decisions on the will of the majority while we are at it!

      • It has nothing to do with religion. I know plenty of 'non-religious' people that voted to stop it so your argument lacks the fact that not everyone (religious and non-religious) voted to stop gay marriage.

        • There is no way to base this discussion on "facts". I don't know anyone who developed this bias outside of a religion upbringing even if they no longer go to church. No matter where your own beliefs came from, you can't take religion out of this equation.

        • ^^ it drives me crazy that people thinking others will change their mind by simply saying it's a violation of rights. Those of us who believe it is wrong, believe it is wrong, period.

          • I do think it's a violation of rights but I also believe that you think it's wrong and guess what, that's okay, we don't have to agree. But that's not what I am talking about. I am talking about comparing gay marriage to marrying pets. You can disagree on gay marriage and not stoop that low on a humanity level.

          • But you have no right to impose YOUR beliefs on everyone else through civil law. Personally, I believe that homophobic people should be executed. Whose "beliefs" do you think should prevail?

        • ? That was sarcasm. Of course you can have a different opinion than me. What I am not okay with, however, is you saying that marrying a gay person is the same as marrying a dog, or the Eiffle Tower, or a dolphin - that is an insult and is very stupid.
