  • Anyone else secretly love hitting people with their stroller? The Yankee parade is an excellent place for that today.

    • Oh, yeah. I am with you OP. I also park my stroller right on front of a car that blocks the crosswalk and don't move for a while even though the car got green. It's a lot fun.

        • How is this playing chicken? The car was blocking my way and I had to wait for the next green light because of that. While I was waiting I stood right in front of the car blocking. He just got some of his own medicine.

                • Because that guy didn't want to waste a second of his life he inconvenienced mine and made me waste a few minutes. All that could have been prevented if he waited on the OTHER side behind that nice white line where he was supposed to be. But no, he had to pull into the intersection, got a red light and pulled up (so the cars were able to pass by) and no pedestrian was able to cross.

                  • You did not waste a few minutes. You wasted seconds walking around the car. It happens. Don't use your DC to be a PITA.

                    • It was impossible to go around the back of the car because of traffic. If I did that I would have just snacked the rear of the car and moved on. But since that was impossible I had to do the second best thing.

                      • No, the second best thing is to keep walking, not put your stroller in front of the car and linger there when the light turned green.

              • As much as I would like to, I wouldn't risk my child's welfare to make a point. Believe me, I think of it all the time, but you never know when someone is crazy or plain stupid, and won't yield the way you think they would.

                  • I would've be fine if OR planted HERSELF in front of the car, something I might have done myself. But to use the stroller, whether there was a DC in it or not, is just obnoxious. When I am with DC, I concentrate on crossing the street safely, not to be obnoxious. I do that on my own time.

                  • np: You really ARE an idiot then. I am both a pedestrian and a driver in the city and it can be really terrifying to drive safely in this place. Especially when traffic gets really bad, there is a lot of road rage going on. I have had cars honk at me and dart around me when I am trying not to "block the box" so peds can walk. If you stuck your dc out of a car you should be very lucky there wasn't an accident.

                      • You were intentionally blocking the car. Not only were you putting your DCs in harm's way, you were also disrupting traffic by forcing him to remain blocking the box, thus endangering others. The fact that he was a jerk does not make it okay for you to be one.

    • Yeah right - I would like to see you get through the Yankee parade with a stroller. Why don't you give it a try. I once was at a ticker tape parade and was nearly suffocated, my arms pinned to my side, and I was literally carried off by the crowd, my arms pinned to my side. It was very scary. Will never go to another one again.
