POLL for people without electric dishwashers: how much paper goods do you use? how many hours of paid cleaning help do you have?

- I wash everything by hand and do not use paper plates (trying to be environmentally friendly) or any other paper items, ever. I hand wash them all every night which is easy because day by day it's not really that many. I also do not have a cleaning person.

    - She is 2 but my mom lives with us 4 days out of the week. So it's me, dh, my mom, and dd. It's not to hard if you do the dishes as often as possible. You can leave them in the sink to dry or dry them yourself with a cloth. My dh likes to cook and there are a lot more dishes when he does but I soak everything right away so it's not hard to clean.

  - You know using the dishwasher uses less water and electricity to heat the water than washing the same amount of dishes by hand. And less soap usually.

- We only use paper goods when I have been cleaning the kitchen for Passover. We have 0 hours of cleaning help, although I am looking into getting someone to come 1-2 times per week, though I can't spend more than $40 per week. Is that possible for a 1200sq., 2B?

  - yup, same. Its a PITA to load and unload a dishwasher. We use the same 3 forks and Knives and the same 3 plates every day. Really not a big deal to wash up.

- i lived without a dishwasher until i was 45. no paper plates. we had a cleaning lady but dh joked that i always did the dishes before she came and it was true! i can't tell you how much i love my bosch now that i have one!
