What are your thoughts on bringing a newborn to a friend's house that has a 3-year old? The 3-year old will be at day care, but my son doesn't have his shots yet so I'm nervous about bringing him into the environment in general. Am I being too cautious?

    • Way too cautious. What do you think parents of more than one DC do? Ship the older DCs out until the new one has had their vaccines?

    • np: I wouldn't take a newborn to a home with a 3yo, especially one who goes to daycare. Especially with flu season upon us. Why risk it. Go in a few weeks/months.

        • np: not sure if my info is valid but i was under the impression that unless the person is there in the room breathing, the germs from viruses are not airborne. it's not like your dc will be playing with toys and putting things in his mouth. i'd go.

    • DOn't worry so much - wash your hands when you get there and make sure anyone else who wants to touch db does too.

    • I wouldn't have done it unless baby was at least 2 months old.
