Just found out I wasn't approved for FMLA with my company as I haven't been here a year. They will still cover STD time after the pregancy. I also found out they are hiring a freelancer to come in to cover my position while I'm out. I was hoping to take 18 weeks off and now worried that I need to come back right after my STD runs out. Any thoughts? Just really stressed now.

    • You will need to come back ASAP. If you aren't covered by FMLA, they do not have to hold your job for you. GL.

      • re read the post. she hasn't been there long enough to qualify for it. to OP, if you want your job, you'll come back as soon as STD is over. sucks, but at least you have a job when so many are looking for one.

    • Sorry. Can you sit down and have a conversation about it with HR? Propose taking the leave you want, and make it clear that you are a great employee, and you want to come back, but you want a decent time with new db. Offer to phase in Freelancer, go beyond what you need to do?
