    • I cannot imagine that someone would. And I think it is very, very rare when a child would be admitted to both.

        • np Better college placements and smarter peers. Didn't apply to mm after touring, but did apply to csh.

          • nnp; LOL, I don't think so. MM and CSH recruits same kind of girls. Exmission same, too.

    • Both are great schools, Sacred Heart strives to be waspy Catholic, as in "expect for the nuns and the crosses, we could be Spence", Marymount is more international and has non-UES traditional families, which I view as a plus. I got a full ride to Marymount for high school, graduated top of my class, and was accepted to Brown, Princeton, Williams. Penn and Georgetown, so not sure what you mean about smarter peers and better college placements. Marymount girls are smart, well-rounded and lack most of the silliness of the other UES girls' schools.

        • Colleges take individual kids, not entire classes. If your dd belongs at HYP, she'll get in from Marymount or SH

      • Those are all great schools but for "top in class" I would think that one would also be accepted to Harvard and Yale (at least they were in my public high school).

        • last year or the year before (i'm not sure which) marymount got four girls in one class into harvard. does that satisfy your quota? seriously, though, their exmissions are much better than you think they are. it's a terrific school. they really empower the girls. and, no, i don't have a child there (i have boys). but i know a lot of people at both schools (all the girl schools, actually) and i have been uniformly impressed with the marymount girls i've met over the years (and they range from 2nd grade up to 11th). sacred heart has lovely girls as well, by the way. i just don't agree with the notion that marymount is a second class citizen in this situation.

        • She got into Princeton and Williams and you're complaining that Harvard and Yale aren't on the list? That's a rather narrow view of higher education in the US.

      • Good reply grad, and unlike some of these other silly posters who are on the outside, your comments make sense.

    • Felt Marymount was warmer and we would fit in better. Hard choice because friends at CSH love it there too.

    • I don't have a dd at a SS school but if I had to choose, it'd be MM over CSH. Bec academics/exmissions are the same but CSH moms on UB are so obnoxious about MM and MM moms don't retaliate and seem more civil.

      • Good catch, and indeed it is very telling of the different types of people that the two schools tend to attract.
