  • Any ideas about how to naturally get labor started? Doc is starting to talk about inducing, but I'd rather get it started on my own. Thanks!

    • Take a long walk, eat something spicy, drink a glass of wine, have sex with DH. Worked like a charm for us!

    • Unfortunately there's nothing you can do but wait for mother nature to do her thing. That said, she may not be in any rush and you may HAVE to induce. Which i did for my two DCs -- absolutely a dream both times. First time, labor 8 hours, second 4 hours. And it was kind of nice to pack a bag and know what was coming. Just me though...

    • Nipple stim works well, but it takes a long time working at it to have any effect. Just don't do it before you are due. A 'green' unripe cervix will be a painful labor.

    • have sex...if you and your dh feel comfortable...the hormones that your body produces to start labor naturally are found in their highest concentrations in male semen...good luck, have fun. from...your friendly neighborhood doula!
